First of all, if we are to assume that low-income voters are more likely to have their votes purged, does this necessarily hurt Obama as much as most Democrats, considering his large support among upper-income/highly educated voters and his so-so support among blue collar white voters?
Secondly, every poll that I've seen shows that Obama voters are much more excited about their candidate than McCain's. Assuming that a McCain voter and an Obama voter get to the poll and are challenged, I tend to think that the Obama voter will be much more likely to persevere and file a provisional ballot than the McCain voter. Plus, I've read that the Obama campaign will have a big poll presence of lawyers and law students working or volunteering for the campaign. I expect that they will fully explain the legal rights that voters have, particularly in minority precincts.
The concerns I've seen expressed about voter purges have come mainly from Democrats outside of the Obama campaign, such are RFK Jr. I tend to think the Obama campaign must not be too worried about this issue or we'd have heard more from them.
