True or False:
If Bush had been a more trustworthy President with even a sliver of credibility left, then this bailout would have been both sold on the public, and would have passed yesterday.

1. False. Any Wall Street bail-out: ROBBERY of middle class tax dollars to the filthy rich.
No matter how you dress it up, this is a CONTINUED redistribution of wealth, i.e., the inverse Robin Hood Effect.

That's precisely why so many progressive Congress Members and Economists are dead set against this. Now, in order to satisfy the conservative republicans, this bill will become EVEN MORE absurd in favor of ultra-wealthy.

2. True, had this economic collapse happened in the same timeframe, 2002
it would have passed with no alterations overwhelmingly.

DU can say what it likes about Bush, but on September 30, 2002, Bush was well liked in this country and had a great deal of respect from the GOP controlled Congress.

4. It shows how much the Bush name has soured on BOTH parties. The sad thing is...
I believe Bush is the Boy Who Cried Wolf in this instance. Could this be the one time in his eight fricken years that he was actually right about something? I do believe so.

6. And what on earth would make you think that?
The repukes and the progressive dems rejected this for opposite reasons.

As with every other instance in the past 8 years the progressives have it right, and we should be listening to them.

Bush & Paulson tried to foist a giveaway on the American public. So-called moderate dems, instead of rejecting it, tried to mitigate the damage. Republicans rejected the altered bill because it was not enough of a giveaway - progressives rejected it because it was a giveaway which did nothing to change the fundamentals that created the problem to begin with.

Where do you find "Bush was right" in all that?

7. The economic crisis is real and it must be acted on.
And a LOT of experts agree on that.

I didn't say that Bush's IDEA was the right one.

8. True, the public can be such suckers and want to believe in a standing President no matter the party
or his own selfish ways.

Public is far to trusting of our officials.

:grr:
