1. My fear is that Obam would then get blamed for the bailout.... The issue is radioactive,

6. I agree...
The deal has to be bipartisan, since the consequences will last for many years.

10. Agreed,...
Now, if he worked behind the scenes on the new deal, whatever that may be, he comes out smelling like a rose.

If it isn't too late to get a new deal done before the markets completely crash.

2. If the Dems have to pass it on their own, they need to pass a
better bill.

3. He'd be accused
of interjecting partisan politics into the issue. Go figure.

5. 14 more Republicans would get hurt feelings. It is their mess, we
can ride it out, let them fix it.

7. No deal
The Democrats brought their votes in as promised - the republicans failed. The only way this deal works is "shared suffering." If everybody takes a piece of the hit - no one can use it to make political hay.

This is the republican's doing - this is an example of McCain's "leadership."

9. No way. Then repugs would make countless ads about how it was a dem bailout
Remember, there's no guarantee that the plan will actually work..and in the short run, it will cause a recession.
