So, this is the reality...
We simply must talk about the fact that they might try to steal the election again.

We must safeguard our votes against all sorts of tampering.

We must be vigilant to guard against this.

We have to try to figure out all the kinds of measures they might use against us.

Yes..."The price of liberty is eternal vigilance."

But oh my god.

How sad this makes me...

How far we have fallen...or have we? Has this always been the reality? Have I somehow missed all the skullduggery?

Maybe I have...

But, still, it makes me sad...

1. Fasten your seatbelt, Peggy
The closer Obama gets to winning the worse it's going to get. They've spent years stealing money from the middle class and poor because they think it is rightfully their money. Billions of dollars are at stake here. This is going to be a war. I'm getting scared myself.

2. Oh, mine is fastened...
I think you may be right.

These people have been in power for so long, they think they continue to deserve it.

It is scary, but we must fight for our country, and for ourselves and our children...

I am not afraid of this war!

7. I wish there was simply a way to standardize the voting process
Or for them to simply outlaw the electronic voting machines if that's not possible.

We have to work on this now. Whatever it takes to get Obama elected, I'm there.

Whatever it takes, I'm there too...

Too damn much is at stake.

10. I share your concerns, Peggy
Sad doesn't even come close to describing what I feel when I think about another stolen election. It a feeling so far beyond anger... it's a sort of animal rage and the intensity scares me.:nuke::mad:

I just posted my doom & gloom all over SallyMander's uplifting post from earlier this afternoon... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7233524&mesg_id=7237150

I hear you, sweetie...

And if I weren't so tired, I'd probably feel the same...

(Spent part of today, and a big part of yesterday doing data entry for Obama.)

We must do whatever is needed...

I love ya too, sweetie...

11. I think Barack is prepared for this. He fights back on voter fraud.
Where was that incident a few weeks ago? I forget but Obama was looking into it. I really feel like if we keep increasing the lead the Rethugs cannot steal it. Still McTroll acted like a pissy ass in the debate and condescending towards Barack because he cannot fathom the notion that Barack might actually beat him. He better be prepared to lose.

And leave nothing to chance.

And our lead is big, and getting bigger...

Still...

Thanks for your thoughts!

17. Has this always been the reality? You may have heard the line, "Be sure to vote early...
"...and vote often!" machine politicians are somewhat known for grabbing a scruffy bearded dude swigging him up with whiskey, pushing him in the door to go vote for their guy then grabbing him on the way out...trim that scruff down to mutton chops, chip strap and some thick go-tee thingy swig him back up push him back in round & round down to a handlebar mustache, smaller mustache and then clean shaven why shoot...

If you gather and trim down your votes like that you can get 5-6-7 votes out of just one drunk dude till he passes out. When you multiply the scruffy bearded drunk dudes that may have been available? Now you're talking numbers. And that's without even sending people into graveyards to resurrect the names of voters right off their headstones. Sure the means are more sophisticated today, but there can be little doubt since the intrigues against Adams and all the way back;

Some men, and women, will do anything, anything to sit on or near a set of power and that includes steal an election believe it!!

26. I think the answer's yes, skullduggery has been a variable in elections since elections
The way they've done it since Reconstruction is to dilute the "undesirable" vote with poll taxes and literacy tests, nowadays with indirect poll taxes in the form of requiring a permanent street address or a criminal background check or a hundred other tricks to deprive people of their right, often on the assumption they won't win appeals until the election's over or modern Democrats take back their respective state house. Technophobes and -philes alike get bogged down on the mechanics of a bipartisan computer conspiracy, but the real crime is when the SoS sends two of the machines to a high-turnout jurisdiction and both machines seize up by noon, disenfranchising anyone who can't afford to wait on line indefinitely just as surely as a poll tax. There's good reason to fear fear itself, since it tends to make people panic or freeze when action is most needed, so it's good to separate fears you can do something about (harassment and lawbreaking) from the ones you can't (the sun going supernova any second, suspecting you're a pawn in someone else's board game but having no idea whether you can fight back or not) ("God grant me the serenity...")

20. Thank you so much for posting this.
This is foremost on my mind. Nothing is more important right now. It's obvious Obama has this under control, and in the bag. He can handle that part.

This is the part that invalidates our democracy. And there is so much at stake now. We're counting down the petroleum based economy. We simply must have an intelligent president who can carefully bring us into our new economy. Anything else and it's going to be far worse than anything Bush has done, believe it or not.

Let's all put our energy into this one all important aspect of the election. We only have one month.

22. Volunteer Poll Watchers Brigade
I wonder if we can set up our own Poll Watchers Brigade ?

I registered as a precinct judge so I will be working our polling location but maybe others could voluntarily go to polling locations and wear Volunteer Poll Watcher shirts so that the know we the American People are watching.

I pray they won't steal this but I'm afraid they will try.

I don't expect Senator Obama to roll over and walk away and fully expect he will fight for our votes.

We need a landslide so let's all help get out the vote.

25. I suspect the Obama people will set something like this up...
I've done poll watching before, and it's interesting.

GOTV is essential!

We will be doing that too.

I know they will try to steal it...

But remember: Being aware of the problem is a very important first step.
