Another RW columnist comes out against Palin (ouch!)

It’s a sad commentary on this election when Tina Fey can quote Sarah Palin verbatim and have it be funnier than anything any comedy writer could ever concoct.

I should note that Mona Charen has joined in the chorus of right-wing crazies who think that Palin is coming off as phony because she’s pretending to know what she’s talking about:

That much having been said, and here’s where I slightly disagree with Bill, Palin was atrocious not just with Katie Couric but with friendlies like Sean Hannity. She needs to devise answers for questions about foreign policy that do NOT rely on recent cramming. That will look and sound false. She may make stupid errors. And it plays to her weakness. She should never again refer to her Alaska experience as preparation for the role of commander in chief.

She needs instead to play to her strengths which are, as I see it, good solid instincts. If she is asked about Waziristan or whateverstan, she should say that (unlike Obama) her desire is always to be firm with adversaries and fair with allies – and to know the difference.

Again, this is the very essence of modern wingnuttery — you don’t actually have to know one goddamn fucking thing about anything as long as you have the right “instincts,” i.e., you agree with wingnuts about everything.

Sarah Palin, for all of her charisma and political savvy, knows nothing. Again, wingnuts, I will repeat that so it hopefully sets in: SARAH PALIN KNOWS NOTHING. This is why the McCain campaign is keeping her away from the eeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiilllllll reporters who are asking her policy questions. Because SHE KNOWS NOOOOOOTHIIIIIIIIING. If that doesn’t disturb you in the least, then you really have no business trying to run the country.

1. It further pisses me off that the Repukes have successfully DEMONIZED the media so that ANY
criticism of Palin is to be ignored by the far right, IMO.

2. total defense mechanism because I've seen plenty in the MSM
cover for her and imply she's doing great interviews. Neither side has the media sewn up! Many in the MSM know they need to save their careers and tell the truth that she's a nut case. She still has many like Wolf Blitzer that continue to say she's great. They are idiots.

3. So Charen's answer is to acknowledge openly that Palin is an
unqualified, know-nothing shit-for-brains whose only purpose as VP candidate is to be used as a pretty junkyard dog parroting pre-programmed lines and angles of attack. I guess that's more honest than pretending she has experience and qualifications in addition to the junkyard-dog eye candy role.

7. the problem with Sarah Palin is that she can't think through an answer
Most people on this board, having taken a crash course in geography, foreign policy, and American political history in the time span since she was nominated, would be able, by now, to grasp facts, but more importantly, think through an answer - or at least fake something acceptable. Her cognitive skills seem to be minimal. No intelligent person would seriously believe that Russia being physically close to Alaska gives them foreign policy experience... and then to repeat it, after ridicule, just boggles. But she was trapped - what should her answer have been? She HAS no foreign policy experience. She had no business even being considered for VP. That boggles too.

8. it never fails to amaze me how cynical the Fundies can be
They KNOW she is an idiot, and they are still aggressively pushing her idoicy on the American people.

Country first, my ass. More like, politics first.
