Returning To Ole Miss

In 1962, riots erupted on the campus of Ole Miss in protest of the university's first black student. In 2008, the school welcomed a historic debate with a black candidate. Bob Schieffer comments.

4. I watched this this morning.
It was a very profound follow up by Schieffer to the interview he had just conducted with Obama. He placed the awesome historical choice this election in clear context. I had tears in my eyes.

I didn't know that 2 people were killed during riots in 1962.

5. Schieffer describes the Ole Miss riots in great detail
in "Mississippi Burning," Chapter III of his wonderful memoir, This Just In.

A wonderful newsman's autobiography, and there are a good many of them. You can hear Schieffer's voice in his writing, and I always like that.
