So much for "I will not come to the debate until the bailout deal has been resolved"!

26. It'll be like Jeff Probst in the early Survivors
Where it shows him leaving the island by helicopter, flying through forests and tall buildings, landing on the rơof of the studio, running to the dơor with his coat flapping, and racing to the podium just as the debate is to start.

3. Faux News proven to be... well, faux news. They specifically said he would NOT be at the debate.
Of course he's going to the debate. He's not going to commit political suicide.

8. Boy is HE going to look sheepish when he gets there...
There will be NO agreement by then (nor should there be). Something has to be done about Wall Street, but I don't think there's the hurry that the Admin would have us believe.

12. The old fart was going to do it all along.
He would have gone if Obama hadn't. I hope they fry him with pointed questions about why he used the financial crisis as a personal ploy and the people of this country as his rug to walk on.

He knew it was the old okey-doke. He hasn't fallen into any of their traps.

24. Of course he is -- his bluff got called
He knew a bailout will was supposed to pass yesterday. He planned to ride in like a white knight, claim that his "White House" meeting (in which he said nothing and offered no ideas) would allow him to claim he'd shown "leadership" and claim that the deal was his, then he could go to the debate on Friday claiming to have "solved" the economic crisis.

Instead, McCain's WH meeting and his noncommittal response to the bill allowed House Reps to throw in their poison pill, killing the bill.

So there's no deal, McCain looks ridiculous and everyone in Washington (and on TV) is saying that it's his fault the deal fell through (because without his being noncommittal, House Reps would not have pushed their poison pill).

If he stuck to his word, he'd not to to the debate, but then he'd look even more ridiculous.

This whole thing has exploded in his face. And it is glorious to behold.
