Shades of McCain's "secret plan to get Bin Laden"...
You know how McCain likes to talk about how he knows how to get Bin Laden, but apparently he won't share it with anyone until he's elected? Does anyone see the similar pattern of behavior in the way he's approaching this financial bailout. If it's so important for him to be in D.C. to "solve" this problem -- if he knows something that can help move this along -- what was he waiting for? Why did it take him until yesterday to be there? What was he doing for the last 5 days, besides not even reading the original 3 page plan? It is SO apparent that he staged this whole thing and waited until the last minute so he could avoid the debate. How could everyone not see this "old school" politics for what it is? If nothing else, the guy is a politician. Which is more than can be said of his running mate. At first, I thought she would steal the show, but now I realize he picked her to make him look smart...

1. It's more like McHero's "stop the bullshit", I think....
http://www.brendan-nyhan.com/blog/2006/05/john_mccains_so.html

" For all the national attention surrounding John McCain’s two highly anticipated, protest-ridden commencement speeches in New York last week, the Senator actually saved some of his best material for the crowd that gathered on Friday behind closed doors in the back of the Regency Hotel.

In a small, mirror-paneled room guarded by a Secret Service agent and packed with some of the city’s wealthiest and most influential political donors, Mr. McCain got right to the point.

"One of the things I would do if I were President would be to sit the Shiites and the Sunnis down and say, 'Stop the bullshit,'" said Mr. McCain, according to Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi, an invitee, and two other guests."

3. And why closed-door meetings instead of leveling with the American people...
...via the convenient opportunity that the debate provides?
