DU, if there's one thing I've learned from canvassing over the last week...
...it's that many, MANY Independents were looking forward to Friday's debate as a way to make up their minds decisively between Obama and McCain. These people want to hear about issues on a variety of fronts and they wanted to hear both men addressing them.

And keep in mind that many of these people were ALSO in dire straits financially due to the events of the last week; yet, they still wanted to take time from their empty pocketbooks and sudden unemployment to listen to a discussion between the two Men Who Would Be President. Now, one of these Men is about to let them down...

I won't be canvassing again for a while, but I can guarantee you that these diversionary tactics from the McCain camp are not sitting well with Undecided Voters. If these average folks can worry about their money situation and still find the time to immerse themselves in a Presidential debate, it stands to reason that a rich and powerful Senator like John McCain can too.
