Palin: ‘What The Bailout Does Is Help Those Who Are Concerned About Health Care Reform’»

This morning on the CBS Early Show, Katie Couric previewed the second half of her interview with Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK). During the interview, Couric asked Palin why she believes the Wall Street bailout is needed.

Palin responded incoherently by claiming that the bailout would “help those who are concerned about health care reform.” Palin then appeared to look down at her notes and says, “Oh, it’s got to be all about job creation”:

COURIC: Why isn’t it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries? … Instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: Ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy– Oh, it’s got to be about job creation too. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions.

Watch it at link~

“She’s not always responsive when she’s asked questions,” Couric said of Palin. “It was a really interesting experience for me to interview her yesterday,” she added.

Yesterday afternoon, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) canceled an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman in order to do an unscheduled interview with Couric. In explaining why he believed the Wall Street bailout is necessary, McCain did not cite health care reform.

55. Oh, me too, Marrah. This morning my son came downstairs and
said he watched some of it and that she scares him to death. Seriously. That was the first thing out of his mouth. And he's usually the calm one around here. You know, while I go nuts over stuff, he tells me to chill out.

If she has rattled him, then I know she's worse than I even thought.

62. Every little tidbit that comes out of the Couric interview is worse
than the last. At first I thought some of them were satire. Then to find out that they are accurate quotes just blew me away.

Another thing, I fought long and hard to break away from religious fundamentalism and it wasn't easy. Heh. Now I have to hide all my books on different paths when my family visits. I figure there's no need to get into an argument about whether wicca is evil or if Buddha is a god or if meditation can lead to possession by demons. Heck, they think all Jews are going to hell so they're not ready for the really complicated stuff yet. And I guess I shouldn't tell them that I don't think there is a hell to begin with. We'll just stick to arguing about politics. Much safer if just as annoying.

Palin scares me to death, too.

"Not always responsive." I'm not sure how to take that. Does she just sit and stare back at the questioner? I mean, an attempted dodge is still a response, right?

A response in a legal case is only responsive if it actually answers the questions asked. You can make a non-responsive response, and that's what non-responsive responder Sarah does.

There is just nothing else to say

This woman is a walking disaster

This campaign ought to be put out of its misery

McCain, if you have any honor left, just come in front of the American people and say "My friends, I have made a terrible mistake in my choice of running mate. I am sorry to have subjected you to this lunacy, and I apologize to her for subjecting her to this humiliating exposure. Now I ask my Republican colleagues to name new Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, because really, country must come first, and I cannot present myself as someone with sound judgment after this debacle, and I certainly cannot in good conscience present Sarah Palin as a person who should be entrusted with the office Vice President, much less (God forbid) the office of President."

60. Reminds me of a certain Seinfeld episode.
George was tired of his current relationship, so he decided to date another woman and purposely get both women's paths to cross in order to dump the first woman.

He told Jerry he was going to see "Godspell" with one woman and go ice skating with the other.

Later, in the diner, he tells the second woman, "The actor that played Jesus made some interesting choices."

The woman says, confused, "What?"

George catches himself and says, "Oh... I mean... I really enjoyed going ice skating with you."
