Clinton on McCain

(Byron York)

Bill Clinton, ostensibly campaigning hard for Barack Obama, continues to say nice things about John McCain and Sarah Palin. This morning, it was McCain's proposal to delay Friday's debate. On ABC, Clinton said, "I presume (McCain) did that in good faith since I know he wanted — I remember he asked for more debates to go all around the country, and so I don't think we ought to overly parse that."

My guess is that Clinton sees this — McCain's "all hands on deck" move — as something he, Clinton, would have done in a similar situation, leaving Republicans fuming and muttering about being outmaneuvered. The press would have admired him for it, too.

Weekly Standard: Clinton on McCain's Move: Country First

Hotair: Awesome: McCain’s acting in good faith in pulling out of the debate, says Clinton

Gateway Pundit: Bill Clinton Defends John McCain's Debate Decision-- Blames Dems For Meltdown!

Not helping.

1. Bill really needs to sit down and shut up.
It's not about him any more.
We need to elect Obama and if Bill can't (or won't) help, he should get out of the way.

4. "he stings while he soothes"?
Who is he stinging? He's giving them a reason to justify McCain's actions. You think undecided voters, moderates and Independents are saying to themselves after hearing Clinton's words: "McCain is despicable"?

Ridiculous.

5. Bill Clinton needs to shut the hell up for six weeks.
He's a bigger attention whore than Dubya, and that's saying a lot.

6. Question:
What's the point of a high-profile media tour by Clinton when most of what he says is in praise of McCain and Palin?

9. I'm getting tired of folks telling us to wait until October because THEN
Bill will campaign hard. WTF? He has had MILLIONS of people in the last 3 days that he COULD have reached, but he used that time and those shows to compliment McCain. Sorry. I am not waiting around anymore for Bill to do the right thing.
