McCain will show up for the debate he knows that they are close to an agreement so that he will be able to announce that he helped get people to agree in principle and didn't care about how he would do on the debate.

When he goes to the debate his plane will arrive a few minutes before the event and he will have an excuse for his poor performance, " My mind has been on more pressing matters".

I don't think that there was ever any idea that he would not show up for the debate he is just giving himself an excuse for his lack of focus and grasp of facts when it happens. Pretty smart actually.

1. I think he is trying to delay the debate so it will replace Palin's debate
That way Palin won't have to be exposed any more than she already is.

2. I understand that logic but its too obvious a ploy

On the other hand I can see McCain looking at the moderator and saying, "I am sorry Gwen my mind was on more serious problems what was your question?"

3. If we were Rove, we would have responded by saying McCain is throwing in the towel!
Repeat. McCain is throwing in the towel! A president can't just throw in the towel. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

6. The problem is that if you run a campaign like Rove you have to run your administration like Bush

Obama is hoping that if he can run like Obama he can run a different kind of administration.

5. This was the worst case of playing Russian Roulette I've ever seen
He was handed the gun and put the three more bullets in it and spun the cylinder.

7. Well if it gives the pundits a reason to write off his bad debate on Friday
then it will have worked.

11. I don't buy it .... interesting angle .... but I don't buy it
I think McCain was playing dice with this ploy and rolled snake eyes
then crashed his sixth plane.

The spin will not work there is too much out there.

Dodd and Frank said they were never contacted by the McCain campaign this week.

has said he wasn't needed and isn't needed. They can spin it however they want. He's an ass and he nor sarah are prepared to lead this country. He probably went home because crypt keeper told him she was done kicking out the money on his bullshit campaign.
