McCain isn't use to this kind of fight.
He has sailed through election after election in his Senate campaigns in Arizona. He got crushed by Bush in South Carolina, but the only thing he learned from that experience was how to be a bigger bully than he already was before.

The republicans got use to jerking democrats around like they did in previous presidential elections. They failed to understand who they were dealing with in Barack Obama. The made the fatal mistake of not taking his brilliance and his political skill seriously.

John McCain made a fool out of himself today. He and his campaign are a laughing stock and I seriously doubt that this can be overcome.

1. He's just gonna have to work evenings
and weekends...

I think he's going to end up by the end of this campaign looking the way most presidents look after 8 years on the job!

2. What they didn't expect: Obama to just come out and tell the truth
They thought Obama would fall back and retreat instead of coming out and saying: these guys sandbagged me, and I ain't havin' it.

It was a grave misreading of Obama's character.

The greatest moment of his press conference was when the reporter asked him about a "miscommunication" and he just laughed, like "that's putting it mildly." It made nhim look great, and even generous to the McCain campaign, even as he accused them of dirty tricks with a broad smile.

3. actually, Mccain's so bad and antiGOP sentiment so REAL now that even corpmedia can't protect
the GOP and Bush and McCain the way they were able to from 2000-2005.

Gore and Kerry fought back more than corpmedia would ever ALLOW you and the American public to see. Protecting BushInc started to become too hard for even them after Katrina.

4. I liked Obama plenty before this, but he just proved to me
and I hope other Americans as well, just how damned tough he really is. I was amazed!!!!!!!!!!

5. Obama is a unique Democrat on almost every level
no offense to Hillary Clinton, but I have no doubt that if she was the nominee she would have saw what McCain did and said "me too."
