Could-have-been great debate correspondences, pt. 32:
Dear Sitting Bull:
It is my full intention to meet you and your forces in Montana. I have really looked forward to meeting up with you above the Little Big Horn River in Montana. However, some pressing issues of a greater national import have arisen, and I must take this opportunity to be elsewhere on the date of our scheduled appointment. I will have my adjutants contact your tribal secretary as soon as we can establish an appropriate time and place for our conference. I am looking forward to a spirited and vigorous debate. Please let me know if you are unable to reschedule.

Yours truly,

General George Armstrong Custer
