Obama Dramatically Ramping Up Overall Ad Spending; Now Outgunning McCain
In a sign that the Obama campaign is getting serious about tapping his financial advantage over McCain with six weeks to go, Obama's overall spending on TV ads has jumped 50% in the last two weeks, while McCain's has held steady -- and Obama is now outspending his rival even as he's up on the air in more states.

In the week ending Sept. 21, Obama spent $9.4 million on TV ads in roughly 15 states, up from $6.5 million in the week that ended two weeks ago, Evan Tracey, who tracks national ad buys for the Campaign Media Analysis Group, tells me. Tracey's analysis is based on fresh data he obtained this afternoon.

Obama's increased spending -- which has gone up at the rate of over 20% per week over the past three weeks -- is largely fueled by boosts in spending in Florida, Colorado, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, according to Tracey.

"They're ramping up," Tracey says. "They're cranking up the volume."

In contrast to Obama's ratcheted up spending, his data shows, McCain's outlay has held steady at around $7.5 million in roughly a dozen states -- a number that Obama's expenditures have now surpassed.

2. I have not yet seen
a single Obama ad on the local stations here around the capital city of Kansas. We have McCain ads all the time. I saw several Nancy Boyda (D House) ads for a while but now they are all her opponent. Only a few Slatery (D Senate) ads to defeat Roberts a month ago but now only many many Roberts ads per day. Dunno why this is but it is certainly stacked against the Democrats.

I know McCain is doing well here (god only knows why) but if the Dems ever hope to gain any traction and help us on the ground here we need to do better.

I am not a Democrat, I have no clout with anyone who controls this and I work for a bipartisan organization. I will not be making calls about this but I thought it might be important to someone.

3. Radio
Driving in my car and thinking "I hope Obama realizes the power of radio" One minute later here he comes...and on the country station no less. More bang for the buck and gets people while they are burning 4 buck gas.

4. There are at least 3 different ads (radio or TV) running here in Philly.
They are running an Obama "equal pay" ad, a "stem cell ad", and just today, I heard a new cold-blooded one regarding Iraq. The ad mentioned about how Iraq was finally spending its 79 billion oil profit - but spending it on a big ferris wheel in the center of Baghdad... And then it says that despite this, McLame was still supporting the continuance of us sending 10 billion a month over there.

It was definitely an "oh snap" ad!
