Is John McCain the whitest candidate in recent memory?
No blacks are voting for McCain, that's for sure. Then again, both Gore and Kerry got the vast majority of black votes from W, and I'm sure Clinton did over Bush and Dole as well. But at least W got quite a bit of Hispanic and Asian votes. McCain is making Hispanics vote like blacks, and I don't know what his support among Asians is, but I don't think it's very high.

Is McCain/Palin the champions of the no-minority, all-white Republican party that will eventually implode with changing demographics in the near future?

1. The televised RNC was alarmingly white.
And by that I mean wow, there were about two black guys in the whole place and one of them was the entertainment!

When you watched the DNC, it was a true mix of people, like you'd see walking out on the street, all over America.

6. You got it.
Their crowd was about the least diverse I've ever seen, even by their standards. Not that I normally judge crowds by their diversity, but theirs was so glaringly different from the demographics of our nation, you know?

7. Not only did it look non-diverse racially
but classwise it also looked pretty bimodal.

Some people looked like good, middle class churchgoing folks, but other people there looked pretty wealthy.

The democratic convention was much more of a class mixture, I thought.

10.  I just put on my sunglasses and watched - I think the Repukes were sending a not-so-subtle message
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 05:27 PM by 1Hippiechick
because there had been a few AA's in the other gatherings. I also thought there were probably a lot of big oil men there - the tacky cowboy hat garb (or Texas Oilmen garb) AND a variation of the "Dallas" theme music if I am not mistaken - just big oil thumbing their noses at the American people, I thought.

BTW, as far as his being SO white, whomever does his makeup makes him look like a friggin Casper, IMO.

That whole dropping bombs on Asian women and children thing can't really be workng in his favor

4. There is at least 1 black voting for mccrap...
Ron Christie comes to mind...so you really can't say "none/no". ;-) But, I think historically, blacks tend to be democrats. Maybe someone can back that up with some facts?

5. McCain-Kennedy
Lotta people were saying he could do well with Hispanics due to McCain-Kennedy. Unfortunately for John, he repudiated that bill; while it helped rally the conservative base behind him, it hurts his chances--likely his only chance--to win Hispanic votes.

He's not fooling anyone.

8. Yes. In addition to the overall paleness of his supporters, he is
physically that pastiest person alive (yeah, yeah, skin cancer, I know!), but he flat-out looks like the evil Emperor from Star Wars.

I have noticed that lately they've been slapping the self-tanner on him to try and make him look less like the zombie un-dead. Palin has in on hand by the bucketfuls, since she can't get home to her in-mansion tanning bed now.

13. McCain is so white because of his melonoma - he can't get a tan.
He should use "Sunless" or the equivalent. For those who want to flame me - I am not being insensitive as I was very much aware of the appearance of my first husband who ultimately died from melonoma.

At times I really think he looks like a cadaver - didn't even think that the melanoma had something to do with it. Thanks for the education. :hi:

11. The Republicans and MSM are justify McCain's all-white voting base and his failure to even
Bother to try to get any black votes by claiming that it's just because blacks are all voting for Obama and never explore why, just assuming that we're a bunch of stupid, color-struck bigots.

Funny how, when a minority of white people don't vote for Obama, it's HIS fault for "failing to connect" with them (when he's busting his ass for their votes). But when the black people voting for McCain couldn't field a football team, it is OUR fault for insisting on voting for the black guy. And they never suggest even the tiniest bit of culpability on McCain's part, much less hold him accountable for treating black voters like we don't exist and/or don't matter.

18. McCain has on so much make-up
He reminds me of Tammy Fay. He looks like he just climbed out of a coffin at a wake. I guess they're trying to combat the "old" thing by covering up his Dorian Gray like face. Or maybe he's already dead and just a robot or re-animated. Or maybe it's Cheney in a rubber mask. Where's Scooby Doo when we need him??

21. It's funny because somehow people only ask what's wrong with the 3-ish black folks....
voting republican. Or 3-ish gay folks.

A more relevant question would be: what's wrong with those jillion-ish white folks voting republican?

Of course the economy wasn't quite as bad, Iraq was only a year old, and he was still milking 9/11 approval ratings.
