I sense a lot of stuff that we as Dems wanted will not become reality because of lack of money.

2. Why can't we just borrow more from our Chinese overlords?
Or make healthcare off budget like the two wars we're fighting?

Who keeps balance sheets anymore?

That's so 20th century.

5. Prescot Bush wanted to overthrow FDR. Roosevelt was hated and seen as a traitor to his Class.
This financial meltdown, Treasury and the Fed looking the other way while banks made no income/no asset loans, was planned. This crisis was planned to transfer wealth, and to bankrupt the government. In Grover Norquist's words "To shrink government down to a size that we can drown it in a bathtub."

This is the death of the New Deal.
The death of Medicare.
The death of Medicaid.
The death of student loans.

The death of the middle class and working poor.

The death of people who could accumulate enough wealth and enough education to ask hard questions, and to be a thorn in the side of their financial overlords.

This meltdown is the culmination of Prescot Bush's dream.

6. No. There's plenty of money being paid for health insurance.
We just redirect payments to the government plan instead of the insurance companies. Voila!

7. No, this may bring us closer
the current crisis shows little steps aren't going to do anything
tiny changes aren't enough, we need a new New Deal and universal health care will be part of it.

8. With these bailouts the right better shut the hell up about
the folks in Texas and Louisiana that - to quote them - "were too stupid to get out" -

Texas should have no concerns whatsoever, all the money and resources they need should be made available to them. At least that is how it should work in a just world with leaders that truly respect human life.

11. Not necessarily.
Obama's plan doesn't just stick the .gov with our health care bills without a way to pay for it.

For one thing, he'll extend the government-backed health insurance that federal employees and our Congresscritters get to everyone who wants to pay in. That gives some competition to private health insurance, and the cost for the government plan won't be unreasonable. You're still paying premiums, so the plan has funding that won't get torpedoed by the spending on the financial bailouts (unless Repukes find a way to steal from the cookie jar, which has happened before multiple times.)

Also, the plan involves reregulating the insurance industry, putting some rules in place on how they put their risk pools together, making it illegal for them to discriminate against the ill or disabled, and putting some guidance on that invisible hand of the marketplace, so insurance companies and health care providers can compete on price and services rather than competing for taking the healthiest customers and sticking the sick people on someone else or leaving them in the cold.
