Palin Hits Obama: “Not the Politics of Change”
Edited on Thu Sep-18-08 09:46 PM by merwin
Source: FOX News

Sarah Palin responded to comments Barack Obama made on Wednesday when he told his supporters to try and persuade their friends to vote for him, “I want you to argue with them and get in their face” pressing that his backers “are the ones that can make my case.”

Palin hit Obama and said that is not the politics of change, “He told them to get in your face and you know that doesn’t sound like the politics of hope or the politics of change to me,” Palin said. “What that sounds like is the worst of politics and earlier today when some protestors in another rally they tried to do exactly that. John McCain said and I quote, ‘The one thing that Americans want us to do is stop yelling at each other’ and now that is leadership.”

The GOP ticket held their second rally of the day at the Resch Center Arena here. Over 10,000 supporters waited for a few awkward minutes at the beginning of the rally when the lights went out before the duo emerged. Palin gave the crowd a Wisconsin welcome, “It’s so nice to be in a state where people appreciate good hockey and good huntin’ and good fishin’ and great football.”

Palin went after the Democratic nominee again and accused him of siding with the energy special interests while boasting about her own experience with energy independence:

“Our opponent says he wants to help Americans who are struggling with high-energy costs. But time and time again, he’s sided with special interests and come out against solutions that would help Americans heat their homes and fuel up their tanks and pay their energy bills,” Palin said. “And maybe if he’d been the Governor of an energy-rich state, he’d get it. And maybe–maybe if he’d been on the front lines of securing our nation’s energy independence, then he’d understand.”

13. And she's a scold.
"...and you know that doesn’t sound like the politics of hope or the politics of change to me...”

That has "prissy schoolmarm" written all over it.

(No offense meant to the prissy schoolmarms.)

2. what a coincidence
someone posted earlier that this was the Obama quote that Drudge has been pimping all day!

Is it supposed to be offensive? What is wrong with robust debate? Unless this is meant to make Obama seem like an angry black man or something. Obama is fucking cool as a cucumber 24/7. Nice try, Sarah. I really hate this person.

9. This clearly demonstrates just how ignorant and gullible our country is.
I watched their WI "town hall" today...or wherever it was...and OMG...are those folks a bunch of dumb ass, gullible sheeple. Will they ever get tired of hearing her little dumb ass hollow phrases to get the masses of morons to break into controlled cheer???

We truly are a nation of f*cking morons. Just watch one of their conventions, and it's easy to see.

11. I think I'm going to start hiding every thread with "Palin" in the subject line.
Maybe, if I don't look, she'll go away.

(Of course, I know she'll disappear in about 47 days, but I want to believe she has gone back to the tundra now.)

12. lets talk issues McSame
enough of the mud slinging and the he said she said bs. What we're tired of is the practice of taking one sentence out of a speech and making a stand against it. Take a real stand against something... like the illegal war/occupation, or the health care crisis or the financial crisis.
Stop acting like 5th graders and talk substance... unless there isn't any there?
Come on McSame and Phalin, bring it. Stop your attempts at distraction and tell us what you really stand for. Show us where you really stand. Otherwise all you've got is a stand against Obama.
Taking a stand against one man? Is that all your platform consists of?

15. Guess what Palin? Wisconsin people also like GOOD DEMOCRATS
Not just hockey, hunting, fishing, and football. Wisconsin people are good judges of character and they can spot a 'suckup' like a whitetail. They know a bitch from a badger. They know a flatterer from a fox. The Humane Society is BIG in Wisconsin, they protect gray wolves and one of their MAJOR ISSUES is with wolf traps and unnecessary cruelty to wildlife. The hunters I know are experts with bow and arrow mostly and some are taxidermists and many just get out there to be one with nature. They wont tell you that unless you are an old friend. They might be nice to you but it takes awhile for them to really warm up. When you try to flatter them they will smile and clap but they wont be impressed with just words. Many of these people work in the factories and they read the newspaper at 4am before their shifts. They dont count on Fox News.

They know what has happened to their hometowns. They know that many little cities along Lake Michigan have fallen on some very hard times with Main streets looking like ghost towns. These are good people and they spend a lot of their money on insurance, insurance that has a high deductible. The cost of living might be lower than larger cities but they are frugal and count their pennies. They dont take kindly when people use money extravagantly - like hearing some Alaskan mayor remodeled her office for $50,000. These people have a high work ethic, they take pride in what they do and they wouldnt be impressed to know some Alaskan mayor had a manager who took over all of her duties so that she could redecorate. That's a slacker and someone who doesnt take pride in their work. That to them is unAmerican. Wisconsin people believe in their unions. Wisconsin people take pride in their teachers and education. Wisconsin teachers didnt LIKE BEING BLAMED and THREATENED by your chum McCain. And they DONT LIKE THE TEST.

Wisconsin is also about summerfest and octoberfest. It is about good music and good food. It is also about museums, education and opera. Wisconsin takes pride in its bands and choirs along with its football. It enjoys its theater from Milwaukee all the way up to the peninsula just to mention the East side of the State. They appreciate culture and cultivate it. They enjoy their evenings watching meteor showers while boating on the bay. They dont appreciate people blaming and restricting their counties for Chicago's pollution, that has created a constant haze as thick as a cloud over the southern horizon. Wisconsinites strive to be environmentalists. Even in the rural areas they divide up their recyclables and compost the rest.

Madison has always been a progressive city. There were large sit-ins against the Vietnam war in Madison and Green Bay-DePere. Many of the liberal colleges helped to organize community shelters. I know of a team of students who stayed out in the frigid Wisconsin sub-zero cold for several days in a cardboard box as a statement about the homeless and to raise awareness and money for shelters. Be sure today students have been taught that part of their vocations is to go out and help and serve others. And be sure they will be registering/registered to vote this year for the party that promises hope and will help them better reach out to those who would APPRECIATE their service. Wisconsin people are known for their devotion to serving and helping others. COMMUNITY ORGANIZING and RELIEF and CHARITY is in their very nature.

They arent easily impressed. They have common sense and keen eyes. They are not dumb.

16. [Subject] StateDemocracy.org Equips You for the 2008 Elections
Dear Citizen:
Are you ready yet for the November 4th Elections? How about your friends, family, and neighbors?
More Americans are expected to vote this year than ever before in history, so don’t be left out! Be sure to ask everyone you know the following questions:
 Are you registered to vote? If you moved recently, have you updated your voter registration?
 Did you apply for an Absentee Ballot? Do you know your state may not require any reason?
 Can you find your local Polling Place? Do you know it may have changed from last time?
The answers to these questions -- and all your voting needs -- can be found at www.StateDemocracy.org -- the FREE 1-Stop citizen empowerment portal that Delivers Democracy to your Desktop! StateDemocracy is among the Internet’s first (since 2001) and most encompassing civic empowerment tools.
In order to boost voter participation this year, StateDemocracy.org is offering FREE widgets for all 50 states. You can simply download and embed these widgets into your own website so your visitors can register to vote, get an absentee ballot or find their local polling place.
Lobby Congress Via StateDemocracy
StateDemocracy.org also equips you to maintain an active dialog with your state and federal lawmakers once they are elected. And RIGHT NOW is an especially opportune time to contact your U.S. Senators and House Member, as Congress takes up major legislation on such issues as offshore oil drilling, another economic stimulus package and all federal appropriations bills over the next few weeks.
As you lobby your elected officials, remember that lawmakers view your constituent input as reflective of scores of other citizens who felt similarly, but didn’t have (or take) the time to share their opinions.
LobbyDelegates.com Further Empowered Grassroots Voices
Over the past 5 months, you may have visited www.LobbyDelegates.com, along with 26,000 other visitors. This latest public interest portal by the StateDemocracy Foundation remained the only online tool enabling rank-and-file Democrats to lobby all 800+ Super Delegates on which candidate to back for the party’s Presidential nomination.

25. As I said about Donald Trump the other day: Who cares what that drag queen thinks?
I am not being sexist when I say that Sarah Palin got her public relations training giving pat answers to generalized questions on the beauty pageant stage. She speaks in generalities and feel-good patriotic jargon -- no substance at all. Classic Miss America pageant system claptrap.
