Obama is on fire!
Speaking in Elko,Nv now. Just said to the effect that John McCain calls the Washington old boys network a campaign staff meeting! (not an exact quote, but close)!!!

2. How is the crowd reacting to him?
Everytime DH and I broke down in Elko and had to stay awhile, I always felt it was hostile territory for liberals and Democrats.

If he is on "fire" as the poster claims, then it's about freaking time. Maybe he finally got the message to put the professor mantle down and take up the prize fighter one.

35. No, I've actually listened to Obama and some of his speeches
Most of them bore me. Once in a while when he goes on the attack, he actually looks good. He looks like a strong and coherent leader when he goes on the attack. When he plays the professor role, he is boring and the flood of "ahs" and "ums" he uses when answering is annoying to listeners.

50. Ya know
you'd probably have more luck pushing this bullshit on a McCain supporter board. People on this board watch and listen for themselves. I don't think the shit you're selling is going to sell well here.

Just a thought.

56. I'm a long time DU'er and a donor to DU
There are a lot of Dems not enthusiastic about Obama. Most will vote for him because he has a 'D' after his name. Others won't for various reasons and yes, I know some Dems in my DTC that have racist attitudes and either won't vote at all for President or grudgingly vote for him because he's the Dem nominee.

The idea that every Dem has to be an Obama fanatic is absurd.

90. So
because some, who have racists views and won't vote for Obama, you have to come here and blame him for that? It's his fault because he's half black?

I really don't care what the racist fucks do, and that includes my sister and her husband who have stated they will vote Republican for the first time in their lives because they would never vote for a N word.

But that still doesn't equate to you coming here pissing on ever damn thread just because you think Obama isn't doing what he needs to do.

And I know your saying "I'm a long time DU'er and donor to DU" was a shot at me because I don't have but maybe 50 posts but I don't care. Everyone started out at zero posts on this board. And I do whatever I can do for Obama and will continue to do so.

104. This is the Democratic Underground board, not the Obama Underground board
If you want compliant pro-Obama-only comments, than go to Barack's web site or create your own.

This board is for Democrats and Democrats, even those of us who will vote for him, don't all agree with Obama or with his positions. Criticizing Obama is not bashing him.

I thought the same thing that you did. He can't win with pundits who are determined to find fault with him. He sounds outraged enough to me--at least I believe that he understands how serious our economic problems are and will work to try to improve things. I truly don't believe that McCain knows or cares (I am not as generous in spirit to him as Obama and Biden are) how bad things are. What we need right now is a progressive pragmatist, and I believe that that is precisely what Obama is. He was not my first choice for president, but the more I see of him, the more impressed I am.;)

It was one in which
several people ganged up on one DUer and accused him of being a closet freeper, without any proof. I couldn't even go to bed when that one was going on. Stayed up hours later than usual just to watch the show. Thankfully the one who was ganged up on had a fantastic sense of humor and made it quite entertaining.

26. Meanwhile I've met people who wish Obama would go back to the positive message that got him here.
I'm betting that if he wins without going as negative as you want him to, you will say he won DESPITE his campaign, not because of it.

How about admitting that this is only your opinion and, of course, you could be wrong.

The campaign might not be perfect but being all negative and bitchy about it is hardly helping to keep McCain out of the White House. Of course Obama is probably making a mistake here and there, but you make it sound like they're hardly EVER right.

32. Obama has already gone negative so your delusional wish about Obama running
only a positive campaign is gone.

Those voters who say they hate negative campaigning are either in the minority or are lying. Negative campaigning works. Its been used in every political campaign since the John Adams/Thomas Jefferson battle.

Negative campaigning does not have to be a smear campaign. Harry Truman said it best -- "Republicans complain that I give them Hell, but I just tell the Truth about them and they think it's Hell." Telling the Truth about the Rethugicans over and over again is how Dems can win, but Dems have to be aggressive, not passive professor types. Harry Truman didn't play the professor role, like Obama. My mother, who voted for Truman in 1948, said the best thing Harry did was go on that Whistle Stop Tour and remind people who Republicans really represent -- Big Business.

When Obama is on the attack, and I've seen him on the attack a few fleeting times in the past, he actually looks good. He looks like a strong and coherent leader. When he plays the professor role, like he does on some talk shows and forums, he floods his sentences with "ahs" and "ums" and that makes him look weak and indecisive. It's also an annoying habit and being a professional public speaker Obama should know better than that.

39. By the way not everyone loved Harry Truman.
He was thought a hot head by some and they didn't like him as a president. Just goes to show that it is right that you can't please all of the people all of the time.

48. True, but Harry won re-election despite having high negatives
and he did it by fighting back against the Republican ideology and reconnecting with ordinary Americans.

Truman knew his days were over after he got us stuck in Korea and had no way to end the conflict.

38. I don't equate passion....
with anger and negativity...

I see his greatest passions being about the changes he knows he can help bring to this country...
the country he wants to try and save for his daughters and all children...
his desire to bring back the dreams and principles this country was founded upon.

18. I had just gotten off of the computer last night when I heard Tweety saying that...
I began screaming at the television what in the hell is he talking about. Tweety and some of these other talking heads always talk about what Obama needs to do and I can tell from their remarks that they must not be listening to some of his speeches and rallies fully or they are full of shit. I think the latter is the case.

13. Have any of you noticed...
...how MSNBC and CNN (--can't speak about Faux since I just don't go there, I've de-programmed that channel from my tv--) so often break away from these Obama rallies just as he's about to address something really important? Maybe I just don't notice them doing it to McCain, but I find myself going up and down the channels trying to find out what Obama just said. I doubt that it's a conspiracy--these folks are just not that smart--but it's still very annoying.
