I truly think that Sienna Poll that had Obama up by only five yesterday that caused some here some concern is just an outliar.

1. Now that's more like it
It just goes to show that the vaunted state polls are even more unreliable than the national polls. The state polls have just been all over the place, on both sides.

9. they're still a reputable pollster.
Were pretty accurate in the primaries. I don't take their polls or any single poll as gospel, but it gives you a rough sense of where things are. I think people freak out too much about them.

16. I think state polls should ALL be averaged out.
You can't just take one and say it's right and then ignore another.

14. Exactly. Couple days ago Ras was in the tank.
If in a week Ras show Obama up 5% nationally Ras will be the greatest pollster ever.
If the day after that Ras shows a 2% drop for Obama Ras once again will be a GOP-shill.

7. If Ras has Obama up by 13 then its actually more like 23.
I usually just add 5 onto Obama's number and substract five from McCain's to get the true values.

11. That looks more like it.
I could not believe that Sienna Poll. People were quick to use it as "proof" that McCain was catching up in NY.

15. I'm not worried about New York. The New Jersey polls showing it close are more disturbing to me.
Not because I think McCain can actually win New Jersey, but because the Republicans manage to make it look close enough to scare Democrats into wasting money there EVERY SINGLE YEAR. They do it for every presidential race, every Senate race, and every governor's race. New Jersey looks like a toss-up at some point in September and the media makes a big deal out of how it's in play, the Democrats get scared into spending money defending it, and then the Democrat wins by at least 7 points. Happens every time...hopefully not this time, but polls showing it close are disturbing to me.
