I don't really like the rolled up white shirt look. This makes him very presidential and works well with his economic message.

45. Fantastic speech...hope he keeps giving it and the lines just roll off his tongue during the debates
He projected a thorough understanding of how the Republicans got us to where we are economically and how he will lead us out of the woods. Lambasting the 9/11 commission-style response of McCain as "old Washington" was killer.

47. my daughter just called me from Arizona to ask me if I was watching it.
Since I didn't know it was on, of course I had not.

She was watching Obama on CNN and McCain on FOX, flipping back and forth...she said it was very surreal, like the Daily Show...

they both started out at the same place but Obama slammed them up one side and down the other while McSame was well, just McSame old Sameold

I am enjoying the hell out of my daughter the Queen of Apathy getting excited about this election. She is attracted to independents but is voting for Barack Obama

I watched both speeches, first McCain and then Obama. McCain is clearly on the defensive, and Obama is driving the message.

Obama's speech today was perfect!

49. “This is what happens when you confuse the free market with a free license to let special interests
take whatever they can get, however they can get it.” - Barack Obama

McCain has actually called himself a 'deregulator'--fitting for someone whose chief financial advisor is responsible for the current mess on Wall Street--none other than Phil Gramm.

From TPM's Josh Marshall...

09.15.08 -- 10:45PM
By Josh Marshall

Let me get this straight. John McCain's top economic advisor, former Sen. Phil Gramm, is the guy who authored the deregulation law that most agree is the ultimate cause of today's financial meltdown. Tomorrow's and probably next week's too. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. John Thain, CEO of Merrill Lynch, which swirled into brokerage oblivion today, is one of McCain's top economic advisors too. And now McCain says he's going to clean up the mess by putting in tighter regulations and oversight even though he's always supported lax oversight and his top economics guy is the one who loosened the rules in the first place.
