McCain’s “Disrespectful” Ad is Downright Racist.
During this historic campaign it will be far too easy to throw the “racist” and “sexist” terms around. But this ad is racist…and it’s time to call them on it. From the excellent blog, Commonplace Book:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b0pSXmT10I

Ordering a black man to show you respect is pretty over the top in 2008. I’m sure McCain’s constituency in the South and perhaps right here in Indiana will recognize the terminology from their (thankfully) long ago heydays of sundown towns and lynch mob gatherings, …and respond accordingly.

There’s only one response to that ad: “That’s racist!” Read more…

1. I said the exact thing the other day.
That ad is all about the "uppity black man disrespecting the white woman".

Horrible ad.

4. Of course it is
and whoever put this out knows it.

Black man disrespecting white woman. That's the message.

McCain is not an honorable man for "approving this message".

5. I hope somebody makes a record of McCain's nasty voiceovers from all
his ads. There is so much contempt in those voices. They truly are baser instinctives in the GOP. And they of course hope to appeal to the baser instincts in the independants. It is really chilling.

6. I feel like such a racial newbie
I guess that I'm really too young to have grown up with racism among my peers. So much of what is described as racist innuendo that I hear about goes right over my head. If this wasn't pointed out to me, I don't think that I, personally, ever would have noticed...

7. Well, I Rec'd this to get this

You earn respect, fucking john mccain and you and your bush in a lipstick don't fucking qualify.
