The economy is crashing thanks to de-regulation. McCain should be the poster boy for this. Why isn't the Keating Five scandal a major issue? Does anybody know if the Obama campaign is planning on running with that one?

1. While Obama didn't specifically say 'Keating Five'
he make a reference to the savings and loan scandal.
Don't know how many will make the connection if they don't know history.

5. I think this is why:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keating_Five

It was 4 Democrats and 1 Republican.
Even though McCain was involved he was acquitted.
To bring this up by name would look worse for the Dems than for the Reps.

6. But those 4 Dems aren't running for Pres. I think there should be a
vicious ad about this.

7. I think it's better to do this the way Obama did today.
Just make a reference to the Savings and Loan scandal under a Rep admin.

I would guess it might be possible for those who understand and know more about the political world than I do to something with this.
I just don't see it from I sit.

8. I agree that Obama should steer clear of this, but the 527s can
go after McCain. I remember that entire Keating 5 episode very well and I can't stand the thought that he can go through this election without it being brought up. Many voters may not even be aware of his role in this scandal. Believe me, if a Dem with this checkered past was running, there would be countless ads.

9. That's ancient history. Finger pointing won't help. Americans are ready to move on.
