After hearing another day of McCain supporters trying to separate themselves, and their candidate from the failed policies of GWB, I recall how avidly these same people pushed for his re-election in '04.
At the time, he was sold as an economic wizard, a military genius, and an ethical saint. They begged we let the tax cuts be given time to kick in, the war time for success, and more time to clean up lobbying corruption.
Now that it's all continued crashing all around us, they're pushing a candidate who promises to carry on the same policies of the last eight years, while selling him as "new and improved", and indeed, a totally different candidate.
This is like a car salesman enthusiastically selling us a lemon, then four years later, telling us "I never liked Chevys". "Just buy this Chevrolet, and let me know what you think four years from now".
It's time for media interviewers to stop these republicans mid-sentence when they claim McCain isn't a third term for Buxh, and ask them why they sold us such an inferior candidate in 2004. Why should we believe them now?
