Is anyone really surprised by the attacks on John Kerry ??
We knew it was coming, didn't we? Did we think Kerry would somehow be able to parry the attacks better than anyone else? Do you understand the nature of this enemy? John Kerry is only one man. He needs all the help he can get. Put yourself into his shoes. What would you do? Day in and day out, consistently? How long before you would burn out? We are not an army of one. We are an army of many. We shall all stand together or we shall all hang separately, to paraphrase Ben Franklin (?). We should not be surprised by the intensity of these attacks. It's part of the battle. We have to beat them at their own game. They Repubs are having a false over-confidence meltdown right now because it is their convention. When the party is over, the hangover begins. Reality will return to their world.

3. No not at all, I was expecting it.
But I thought it would be more POW MIA related. These Shrimp boat Ads are actually rather unbelievable. They are designed for stupid people.

5. Since the media isn't making a big fuss about it,
like they did before the Democratic Convention even began, no, I'm not surprised.

6. Nope
BushCo announced their strategy right in the NYTimes on August 1.

Mr. Bush's advisers plan to cap the month at the Republican convention in New York, which they said would feature Mr. Kerry as an object of humor and calculated derision.

Note how the far from accidental purple heart bandaids fits into this strategy, complete with (semi)plausible deniability.
