After reading a few posts on caging votes, I wrote this to send around
and borrowed a couple of lists from a couple of other DUers. I'm sending it around to everyone on my mailing list.

This is important to know about and to pass the word around to anyone living in any of the states affected by this to know, especially if they opt to vote absentee. In the states of state of Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Minnesota, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington, the Republican Party is employing a voter fraud strategy known as “caging votes.” This practices is ILLEGAL.

Vote caging is a tactic used to prevent targeted groups of people from casting their votes in the election. Right now, one of the methods they are using to do this is to mail absentee ballot applications to people with an incorrect return address on the form so that the appropriate elections officials never receive the request and the person never receives the ballot. If you know someone in any of these states who are planning to vote absentee, please let them know about this and make certain that they have used a form with the correct return address on it. Let the Obama campaign know if you have received such an application and keep it as evidence of a crime committed. This tactic will impact young people away at college, people who are housebound, or whose schedules do not permit them to get to the polls.

This election is too important to be stolen again. Too much is at stake. A reminder that voter registration deadlines are coming up soon so if you know of anyone who is not yet registered, sign them up so they can participate too.
