| I thought Gov Palin had good hand gestures in the debate with Charlie Gibson. |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 04:35 PM by A-Schwarzenegger
She used her hands effectively to emphasize certain things. She used wider hand signals to indicate bigger things, like democracy and free-thinkingness, and brought her hands together to show how things should be focused more, like when she was talking about efficiencies in agencies. Charlie wasn't as good, only circling his loafer a lot and staring into space while she was talking like he forgot if he locked the door or paid the gas bill. All and all, Gov Palin won that part of the debate quite handily, in my view.

|
She maintained eye contact regardless of how truthful she was being, and she only diverted her eyes when seeming to look contemplative.
And, she totally outblinked him, sometimes with the "what did you just ask?" blink, at others she used the "and that's the truth" double-blink.
You've got to give her credit on these, too.

during the Bush Doctrine questions. This was to indicate that the Bush Doctrine was the policy that the USA had the right to have a first exemption on invading another country. Hands together means the military, the knee means America and protecting it against foreign invasions like Charlie's questions. All of these are ways to get to the viewer's subconscience without the other lobes becoming involved.

It's clear some people need it spelled out a bit more clearly. (Even though your post has dead-on tone. Very nice.)
"She used wider hand signals to indicate bigger things, like democracy and free-thinkingness, and brought her hands together to show how things should be focused more, like when she was talking about efficiencies in agencies."
I can't imagine how much more obvious that could be, but anyway....

Of course, it was a send up, and under normal circumstances, we'd all "get" it, laugh and that's that. But people are on edge. I know I am. I am a mess sometimes over this election. Sorry, but it's true. Sometimes I cry. I rant. My poor spouse who has to listen to me at dinner every night! And he's a staunch Democrat!
So, give folks at DU a break here. Just not in the mood for irony or satire, that's all.

And they are saying Gibson cheated by wearing an ear-piece. The OP wasn't unique enough to be thought of independent of that, thus it lost the funny factor. My first though was one of the freepers hacked the account and was posting their spew here.

ever since the RNCC. Then again, it also makes me think of the sign held up by some GOP doofus who neglected to include the ALL-IMPORTANT apostrophe. Google image search let me down on trying to find a pic of that marvelous bit of signage, so instead I had to resort to this VERY weak Photoshop:

Looks like her handlers did a very careful job in getting her lipstick to look just right. After all, lipstick is her brand and her basic message in this campaign.

|
It's not the hand gestures, it's the hands. She has the hands of Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa probably wants them back, but I think it's a sign from God that He wants her to be in the number two slot. If God wants to, He can smite McCain and move Palin and Teresa's hands up to the number one slot. Judging by McCain's health, it looks like God is already in the process of smiting him; so I think the divine plan is unfolding just as the prophets fortold long ago. Recall the words of Nostradamus: "The Old Fish stinks of Death, but the Scarlet-lipped Pig shall cross a Bridge to Nowhere and sit on the Throne of the Chimp." Come on, that prophecy can't be a coincidence.

When he does it, it just makes him look nervous. Sarah simply outclasses him there. It must take hours and hours of practice in front of a mirror to get it just right.

I had no idea. Her vast experience in Foreign Policy made me stop and think about the trip I made to El Paso in 1998, I looked across the border, instantly I became an expert in Foreign Policy.
I plan a trip to Washington, circle the Supreme Court four times, and become a Supreme Court Justice. She has given me a new lease on life! ::tilt head:::rattle rattle:::blank stare:::

This also involves not blinking and being very still with a half-Buddha smile. It is the visual equivalent of trying to stop time so that a answer could have the chance to start forming out of the inner mist.

I've seen the squirrels living in my yard practice that move while contemplating the East.
In fact, they do it for hours sometimes. I worry for them. What if they forget to breathe and suffocate!

I still worry though, especially when it's practiced by someone who aspires to the second banana's seat.
Can't have a second banana who isn't breathing.
