He got away with it again on "The View"
Being at work, I had to look at the video hurriedly, but looks like McCain got away with that "no litmus test, strict constructionist" hooey for appointments to the Supreme Court. Bush used that line too, and ever one of his court appointees, upper and lower courts, has been carefully screened to make sure they're anti-choice.

Did of those women mention that the SC is one vote away from overturning Roe v Wade? And I don't give a shit that McCain "respects" the other side, as he's handing over our rights to the states.

Like I said, I looked at the video only once, but let me know if I missed something. :grr:

2. You got that right
The make-up of the SC has always been the most important issue to me, and if McCain gets in, it's lost for the rest of my life (57)

3. I believe that when McCain said something judges interpreting the constitution...
the way the Founders intended, Whoopi asked if she should be concerned about slavery coming back.

5. This is what John McCain told Sean Hannity in March.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,337834,00.html

HANNITY: Who is your favorite Supreme Court justice?

MCCAIN: I would have to say Roberts, probably. I think — and I think particularly in his position as chief justice. I think he is really a remarkable leader. I respect and admire Alito. Scalia I have disagreed with on a couple of things, but the fact is he is a staunch conservative.

But I would have to say Roberts. But the important thing — the important thing is nominate judges who have a strict interpretation of the Constitution of the United States. And that is going to be a big job for the next president because everybody says there could be at least two vacancies on the United States Supreme Court.

HANNITY: And those would be the type of justices you would look for.

MCCAIN: Absolutely.

HANNITY: No more David Souters.

MCCAIN: Oh, no. It has to be a proven record in my view. A proven record and there's plenty of, frankly, justices out there that we were able to get through that have that background and record, judicial record on lower courts

6. Whoopi Goldberg actually had a pointed question about it.
Don't quote me, but it was something to the effect of "Does strict interpretation mean that slavery should never have been outlawed?"

10. Check out DU's Video Forum there are a lot of good observations
you need to break down the questions to separate videos.

11. Hell, he wasn't even allowed to pick a pro-choice VP...
He's certainly not going to be allowed to pick anything but an anti-choice SC justice.

Who the hell does the think he's kidding with this "no litmus test" BS?

12. Here is video of McCain saying "I do not support Roe v. Wade, it should be overturned."
Pass along if you know someone pro-choice thinking of voting for McCain:

13. But Cindy goofed with the talking points....
and gave the View ladies something that might just really upset the fundies.
After McCain's sidestepping, they pressed Cindy on the "no exceptions for rape or incest" and she said "no, no, I don't agree with that and neither does my husband."
Something else was started to be talked about immediately and Joy said, "So you believe in choice. So you believe in choice."
Jeebus, I'm going to be known on this board as View-nerd pretty soon.
I can't stop posting about this show!!!
