OK this whole Purple Heart thing is starting to wear thin
Some arguments to use against the GOP idiots

1. You do not apply for a purple heart its an automatic award get treated at an aid station in a "combat zone" and you get a purple heart, wound severity does not come into it at all, there is no such thing as an undeserved Purple Heart.

2. If you have a minor wound and you don't go to an aid station and it gets infected and takes you off duty at a later time you get punished anything from a Ar15 to a general court marital.

3. While it is common for a Jr officer to fill out the paper work to request the award of medals other than a purple heart, that paper work has to be approved by every officer above him in the chain of command. A Jr officer is usually directed to fill out that paper work for himself by a commander who doesn't feel like doing it him self, unsolicited medal requests by subordinates are almost always sent back with a reprimand. If a fraudulent request gets past a unit commander it is that Commanders fault not the person receiving the Award.

If someone questions Kerry's awards ask them to show theirs to you. If they say he applied for his own awards ask them who approved them? and if they weren't deserved why are they not holding the approving officer responsible?(FYI one of the SBVFT who was on boat 3 was one of the officers who had to approve one of Kerry's Bronze Stars).

1. There is a simple rebuttal
"If George Bush is so brave, why hasn't he been to Iraq in the last 18 months for anything more than a one-time, secret, duck-in, duck-out visit to serve some turkey"

Be a leader George, go to Iraq!
