Why you have to stop screaming that Obama has to "Grow a pair"
The Republicans want Obama to get right down in the sewer with them. There is NO bottom to their slime, swill, or character assassination, as anyone who has seen the latest commercials can attest.

If Obama takes the bait, if he gets angry enough publicly to snap an angry phrase that is ONE millimeter over the top, he gets painted as this guy:

And this, my friends, is exactly what they want. Think about Ayers. Think about the radical Muslim fear/smear.

The second part is all about the volunteers - LOTS of people who are doing the heavy lifting in his campaign check in here regularly.

Every time someone denigrates the design of the Obama campaign, second guesses the people who get PAID to run the campaign, these volunteers MUST see it as an attack on their faith in the campaign. How difficult will it be to make that last three phone calls when Obama is called a wimp so many times that it is almost believable?? How easy will it be to blow off the last five doors on the block when the effort doesn't seem like it's making a difference?

I'm not talking about them quitting, I'm just talking about a diminished effort.

Every time we post these insults to the campaign we do the work for McCain.

He smears Obama, We smear Obama for not hitting back

Now Obama is being smeared twice. Even if the original smear is garbage, he still gets hit twice.

Obama has gone farther, smarter than just about anyone I have seen in the last couple decades. I believe his people know what they are doing.

I know it's frustrating and I get my rage on regularly....

But denigrating Obama wont do a fucking thing to make this campaign any easier to win.

1. Yuppers. Nail on the head.
As much as we, and some of the media blab about Obama needing to get tough, it could easily ruin him.

Obama's color puts him under a different scope than most. He can yell. He can't rage.

23. I agree...
Again.

Though earlier I suggested a comparison of him to Oakland Raiders fans who celebrate the Raiders going to the superbowl by rioting... if he "grows a pair" and "takes the fight to the streets"... and it would be a relatively easy comparison to sell to voters who're scared of black people.
What can I say? I live about 25 blocks from the coliseum here... and I was just lucky the rioters didn't find my car.

Cool and suave. Unflappable. Is that really such a bad set of characteristics for a President?

Ohh yeah, and I'll repeat. If he goes off and loses his temper, it not being his style, I think he'd just look like a spazz. And, I'd like to think that at least 52% of the voters would prefer to have a President who is not a spazz.

dangerous it was just a few years ago for a black American to raise his hand (or even his voice) to whites - It's still like that in LOTS of places.

And most of the folks who are of a certain age and above look for that ALL THE TIME...

10. I agree. But I also believe Obama is the man we see.
I see it in his face. It's why his girls are so sweet. It's his careful deliberation of plans for his administration.

And you're right on. The split second he blew it they'd be all over him. It ain't gonna happen.

This is so fun. I'm loving this contolled, composed, elegant man. As a Kucinich supporter, I see how Obama avoids the pitfalls Kucinich would probably have fallen into. It's great.

(Fear Uncertainty and Doubt)

This has a long and illustrious career as a tactic - Microsoft used to IMPLY that other OS's were inferior with faked up tests and bought and paid for reviews that supported their "concern" for the end user......

It worked until Linux came along, ironically, another community-grown effort.........

only mimics what frightens rational people about her.

I'm just old enough to remember the civil rights movement (I was tiny, maybe 3-4, but you don't forget the likes of firehoses on humans) and I'm still all too aware of the latent racism in this country (and I'm married to a man of color and have a mixed race son).

46. Obama and Biden don't need to lower themselves
to the level of sleaze and slime that their opponents have sunk to. But they DO need to stop campaigning as if this were a fair fight against honorable opponents. It is not. And for pity's sake, they both need to get over this insane need to keep saying something nice about McCain and Palin every other day. That's not their job. And McCain and Palin will never reciprocate. Every word out of Obama and Biden needs to either stress their positives or their opponent's negatives. And they should never, ever, EVER apologize for anything.

In the end, the only thing that matters is getting to the White House. If they do, it doesn't matter a damn how they got there or what people say about how they got there. If they don't, nothing matters, period.

47. I'm at least a Captain in the Angry Army
but I consistently believe Obama and Biden are tearing assholes. He probably could have busted McCain's melon over the disgusting and rehashed sex ed commercial.
A little hint of James Evans Sr, in that situation may have been warranted and even respected but 9/11 and all he choose to condemn without going ballistic and it will pay off.

I'm just not sure how much more belligerent a candidate can be.
I see Barack and Joe and almost every time, I'm like DAAAAMMMMNNNNNNN!!!!! They are tearing them UP!!!

Of course, I can remember the time when it was more of a disagreement on policies but now it's an ugly ass war. Some think it's not that bad, and others can't grasp that you MUST play a game.

I see it as our job to bring the heat and pressure the media and elected officers. Certainly, we can truly get into the muck. Hell, we can probably push it to a near menace level.

Obama is not us, we are free to be hostile militant assholes.
