Would something like that be doable today? Effective?

Just asking. I wouldn't presume to offer advice.

10. Yep - it was only shown once
Effective though. I was just 12 years old in 64 but I never forgot that ad.

9. This would probably backfire big time.
But I'm not just worried about her. I'm worried about a 72 year old man who says things "jokingly" like "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb bomb Iran" and talks about staying in Iraq for 100 years.

Those two apparently are in the thrall of people who seem to be currently residing in the Bush/Cheney Administration. REALLY not change. Not even close.

11. your right, the 60's though very violent times
I don't think the psyche of half the population looked at wars the way people do now. It was a different time.

Eisenhower ran on a peace platform.

6. Absolutely YES! Call these fucking extremists OUT!
It could most definitely be done. And I think it SHOULD be done! We simply can't afford to let the forces of darkness win again, they need to be totally destroyed.

8. Wouldn't work in today's media environment.
In fact it would probably backfire spectacularly.

12. I'm for it...there's yet to be a single memorable Obama ad
Part of the reason, I believe, why things are as close as they are.

I'm all for something memorable.

13. Republicans successfully use 'scare tactic' ads all the time - and they work.
The leadership of the Democratic party is too spineless to do that though. So they'll lose again, probably.

14. YES. YES. YES. I've been harping about this for months. McCain = NUCLEAR WAR.
A commercial with videos on McCain blowing up and looking unstable, then cut to video of the current international crises we face and finish up the ad with McCain looking pissed and a finger hovering over the nuclear button.

Game, set, and match.
