Women--Do Something About Palin
Send an email with your reasons for opposing Palin to [email protected] The next to last paragraph below says why.

For more info, read this, which a friend emailed to me.

Friends, compatriots, fellow-lamenters,> > We are writing to you because of the fury and dread we have felt since > the announcement of Sarah Palin as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the > Republican Party. We believe that this terrible decision has surpassed mere > partisanship, and that it is a dangerous farce that has a real possibility > of becoming fact.> > Perhaps like us, as American women, you share the fear of what Ms. Palin > and her professed beliefs and proven record could lead to for ourselves and > for our present or future daughters.

To date, she is against sex education, > birth control, the pro-choice platform, environmental protection, > alternative energy development, freedom of speech (as mayor she wanted to > ban books and attempted to fire the librarian who stood against her), gun > control, the separation of church and state, and polar bears. To say > nothing of her complete lack of real preparation to become the > second-most-powerful person on the planet.> >

We want to clarify that we are not against Sarah Palin as a woman, a > mother, or, for that matter, a parent of a pregnant teenager, but solely > as a rash, incompetent, and all together devastating choice for Vice > President. Ms. Palin's political views are in every way a slap in the face > to the accomplishments that our mothers and grandmothers and > great-grandmothers so fiercely fought for, and that we've so demonstrably > benefited from.> >

*First and foremost, Ms. Palin does not represent us. She does not > demonstrate or uphold our interests as American women. It is presumed that > the inclusion of a woman on the Republican ticket could win over women > voters. We want to disagree, publicly.*> >

Therefore, we invite you to reply here > [email protected]<about:[email protected]> > with a short, succinct message about why you, as a woman living in this> country, > do not support this candidate as second-in-command for our nation.*> > Please include your name (last initial is fine), age, and place of > residence.> >

We will post your responses on a blog called "Women Against Sarah > Palin," which we intend to publicize as widely as possible. Please send us > your reply at your earliest convenience-the greater the volume of responses > we receive, the stronger our message will be.> >

Thank you for your time and action.> > *VIVA!*> > Sincerely,> > Quinn Latimer and Lyra Kilston> New York, NY

1. Her stance on being pro life has definately been a hard hitting issue to many women,
I have heard quite a few say that was all they needed to know to discard her...I wish they would also take the time though to realize all the issues here at play and what that women represents and how wrong she is all the way around for such a high position in our country...I honestly do not understand one issue voters..

3. Anti-choice, not pro-life.
She's not pro-life.
But that's not all. My impression of her is that she is corrupt, vindictive, not at all qualified, and not as smart as people are painting her to me. The one minute or so of her speech that I heard (thanks to Jon Stewart) sounded tentative, hesitant, deer-in-the headlights to me. Not confidence-inspring. And honestly, when I look at her, she looks a little bit "off".

And besides, the right wingnuts love her... that tells me something right there.

What should we do about her? Give her a LOT less attention. Stop playing in to McCain's hands. She's a lightweight.

7. Pretending to not understand the assymetry is just plain stupid....
Asking women to take care of Palin is to innoculate ourselves against the "sexism" charge, when men deal with Palin.

Does that same issue exist when Democratic women deal with McPOW?

Of-fucking-course not. So your "it goes both ways" schtick is just complete bullshit that completely ignores the issue that the OP is trying to deal with.

8. I'm not pretending anything, and I fully understand what the OP is trying to say,
but I've been reading a lot of "What's wrong with you women?" posts, as if my gender is responsible for Sarah Palin. THAT is bullshit, but thanks for the insults.

9. I am equal opportunity. The website described in the OP, however, is for comments by women.

5. The truth is taking care of Palin.....
The more it comes out, the more she'll go down in the eyes of any female voters planning to vote that ticket. More mainstream stories on issues like the Bloomburg one this morning will take care of any gender identification going on.........

11. She's a Neglectful Mother....a Bad Mother.... That will hurt her the most with
a large portion of voting females.
