Biden CAN'T WAIT to debate Palin on their agenda of *CHANGE*

http://theutubeblog.com/2008/09/08/biden-blasts-mccain-palin-claim-to-agents-of-change-on-economy/

Listen to it. He talks about how horrific our economy is right now. How is McCain going to debate the horror that is our economy today? No jobs, no health insurance, people losing homes, homelessness through the roof, etc.

Also....

I have a question. How's Palin going to debate Biden if she didn't even KNOW what Freddie and Fannie WERE? Are they going dictate to her through her ear what to respond, like they did with the CHIMP?

5. I'm sorry but Hillary wimped out-- she refused to outright criticize Palin.
Also, it's gonna be Biden v Palin and seriously, if you thought Hillary was experienced, Biden's 10x as experienced.

17. I don't know. I was really surprised and disappointed too.
I mean, there were reports that she was peeved that Palin was basically getting it easy based off of Hillary's hard work-- seriously, it's like the press is giving Palin a vacation to atone for whatever sexism they put Hillary through but it's just making their offenses worse. So I was really surprised that Hillary didn't say anything more. Then again, there's no video so I have no way of hearing whatever inflections she had or the tone of voice she was using. But yeah, it's stupid because the press literally traded Hillary in for a younger and dumber woman and they'd rather stalk Palin rather than give Hillary the time of day now. It's so fucking fucked up.

21. Well Hillary might have wanted to avoid seeming to engage in a catfight
but it's entirely possible to criticize Palin without being bitchy about it. And hell, even if she were a bitch about it, I'd give Hillary slack about it and it'd probably get good play from the media.

25. I totally agree with you.
Plus, she's not running for office, so she's in a stronger position to do go after her.

2. I think she's going to have very firm talking points...
I've also said I bet she wears her hair down for the debate to conceal the ear piece.

4. True. Why don't they ask them all in advance if they're wearing an ear piece and to lift their
hair? I never understood that. What's the F point of a debate if you're going to be told what to say?

3. Do you think he will refer to the McCain/Palin brand of conservative 'Change'
as 'Lipstick on the Pig' ? (Lipstick = McCain/Palin claim of change ... Pig = same old tired and failing conservative philosophy)

Damn ... That would rattle her cafe .... eh ?

6. Im covering bets that they wont debate, there will be some uproar just before, where McCain says
We aren't going to put her through the attacking Media they have shown they are biased and the American people already know how they will report the outcome against her.

7. Her knowledge isn't going to matter
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 11:26 PM by Wetzelbill
If the McCain campaign does it right. Everybody knows Biden is smarter and more knowledgable. Everybody knows he's an experienced alpha dog type and he loves to talk. So pretty much everyone expects him to smash her.

However, ever since Biden was picked the GOP has been trying to say that it would be impossible to beat Biden in a debate, Romney called him "an impenetrable wall of words." So now that McCain picked a veritable lightweight the same strategy is on. Play Biden up to be unbeatable, and lower expectations for Palin as far as possible. That way just by showing up and not drooling all over herself she will automatically exceed expectations. And get ready for these words "Exceeded all expectations." That will be the spin. And the status quo media will pick up on it. In the end, the story will not be how Biden won every point and did what was expected, it will be that Palin was better than everybody thought. That's a McCain camp win.

It's a tried and true strategy, Bush did it with Gore too. McCain will do it with Obama. Get ready to hear about how eloquent Obama is and how "debating" isn't really John McCain's thing, but "doing" is. Lower the expectations so much for them, raise them so much for the Dems and it's an automatic win.

Also, look for condescension to be a factor. Perceived or not, the GOP will immediately paint Biden out to be consescending and "lecturing." "Did you see that smirk Biden had?" "Oh he was so smug when he made that point." "At one point, Biden rolled his eyes at her."

The raging rajas of resentment like to stoke fires like that, because nobody likes being looked down on. So they create this image that Dems are always thinking they are smarter and better so they look down on us average folks. They try to make voters resent the smart guy because they want to make people believe that the smart sounding person is only doing it in order to look down on everybody else.

Problem is, McCain's camp is wearing thin with the media a little. So when Biden wins, they might actually call it a win. Don't count on it though, because I get the impression most will feel that she has "Exceeded all expectations."

11. Thank you for pointing that out. I had no idea they used strategies like that.
Now it's our role to make sure to point out that if they fail at the debates, it's because they have nothing to offer the American people but gimmicks and the same anti-gay, anti-abortion bullshit and lies as always.

18. Biden and Obama are doing something interesting
Especially Biden. He keeps calling her "formidable." He keeps pointing out how "great" she is, but that McCain-Palin have no solutions. Biden is trying to keep her as puffed up as possible so people will keep up expectations for her. So when he debates and roughs her up on actual issues, people will see her for what she is, a lightweight political pick who has no business being VP or President.

The key for everybody though is to not let them get away with lowering expectations. She's capable, after all, she's supposed to be a qualified pick. We just need to keep it based on issues and solutions, and show how McCain-Palin have nothing.
