NBC Nightly News ws GREAT... socked it to McCain & Repugs!!! Am I dreaming?
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 05:57 PM by npincus
Holy crap, did anyone else see that???? If and when video is available, a must-see.

They basically said that McCain and Repubs are running the clock by creating distractions because they don't want to talk about the issues. The segment opened with "Torie Clark, McCain's former spokeswoman wrote a book called "Lipstick on a Pig"..." and then cited all the incidents of the "commonly used expression" being used by a number of Republicans, includong Darth Cheney himself...

OMG... how shocking. What the fuck is going on????

5. The turning of the news cycle
I'm afraid more than actual journalism the MSM now has to switch up the story to keep it interesting and the campaigns buying ad time. Palin could only go so high before they would knock her down, just like they did to Obama after his Kuwait/Europe trip. I just hope the cycle is in our favor come November.

22. They're never going to talk about the issues.
The issues are boring to most people. They don't want to hear about the issues, they want to hear about new, funny things. And the media provides.

At least they now seem to have recognized the invisible line of ridiculousness that our national discourse has finally crossed and are calling the Republicans on it.

24. Fantastic!
NBC has been under terrible pressure from the right wing. The delegates at the RNC shouted NBC NBC NBC in response to a speaker mentioning press bias. NBC executives went to the RNC to hear Republican complaints. The network is under bombardment from right wing droids who never watch NBC but write in to complain, with the ever classic right wing, "I've been a Democrat all my life and have always watched NBC but after your report tonight about Sarah Palin and the bridge to nowhere I'm voting for McCain and watching Fox from now on."

Here is a link to the NBC Nightly News blog, the Daily Nightly. Words of encouragement would go a long way.

25. I think maybe they overstepped themselves by using Couric out of context.
They made her look like an uber-bimbo...which made all the anchors uber-angry.

John McCain's base may never get over this.
