"bodes well for Obama" is not a good way to parse the war in Afghanistan. People dying in war does not "bode well" for anyone.

You would think that over 4,000 dead soldiers and over a million dead Iraqi's wouldn't bode well for the Republicans, but American people have no problem with that. War here, war there, war everywhere!!
