| Sarah Palin: feminist, career woman, career politician with a stay-at-home-dad husband. |
|
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 08:07 PM by girl gone mad
Hello?
These are all things that right wing men hate. So don't forget to mention them often when conversing with Republican men. As in: "I like the fact that she's a career woman who went right back to work after having her baby. It's great that her husband quit his job to raise their kids." Trust me, it leaves them stammering.

What will Todd do if Sarah is the VP. Will he quit his job with BP? Will BP save his job for him for four years or more? Is saving his job even legal? Is Todd thinking his entire life as he knows it over for the next four years if she becomes VP? No more Irondog. No more flying. I wonder what he is thinking right now?

| 23. Todd Palin is something of a wildcard, pull up a chair... |
|
At the conventions, we heard from a collection of folks not running for office:
Cindy McCain
Michelle Obama
Jill Biden
Notice anyone missing from this roster?
Now, they are probably smart enough to wire that man's jaw shut, but I have a feeling that if the wires ever get loose, we'll hear some, ahem, interesting, things come out of that guy.

Let's just say that cultured or heavily intellectual is not something you will hear in conjuction with us. I couldn't see myself flying in Air Force Two much less anyone I work with. I'm not saying we are dumb, we are good at what we do, and that is extract oil, not speak for the entire US.

There was a cutaway shot of the Palin family during the convention that was interesting. Sarah was returning to sit down with Cindy McCain and the two of them were chatting over something. That adorable little one came over to say something to her mother, and Todd's hand reached around Sarah's back to touch their daughter's arm. There was something in the way that child suddenly stiffened and recoiled from that hand which looked, odd. Cindy McCain and Sarah turned to speak with her, and she lit up again as an adorable child.
I don't think Todd is liking the "back seat" role here, and there are a million other things he'd rather be doing that putting on a suit and jetting around to hear the same speech in places he's never imagined visiting, and having a bunch of pansy-assed advisors and consultants tell him how to stand, when to stand, how to sit, what to do with his hands, etc.
I would imagine that Todd prefers to be the captain of his own ship, and he's been taken from that world in which, as you said, he's "good at what he does", and thrown into a situation where he's being told "shut up, sit down, and do what we tell you to do."
How well does that go over with the guys you work with?

This place is full of the macho tough guy, alpha male types. So I would agree, Todd is not liking this at all. I would not be suprised if we don't see him for the rest of the campaign. Or better yet, if the press does see him, start asking him questions. That would get very interesting.

Oil company executive and commercial fisherman. Doesn't leave a lot of time for child rearing.

| 13. Generally, the term stay at home dad refers to a man |
|
who is staying home to raise the kids. Not just the new baby, ALL of the kids.
He's no stay at home dad. He races snowmobiles, remember?

I'm not talking about facts or how to deal with people in the reality based community.
I'm just suggesting a way to dissuade right wing men from voting for McCain/Palin, or at least from being enthusiastic about the ticket.

I deal with them on a regular basis. Many are concerned that McCain is not conservative enough and still aren't sure if they want to vote for him, vote 3rd party or not vote at all. Any extra doubt we can create in their minds is a good thing.
Feel free to argue with me, but I've shut many more of them down this way than with hours of policy debate.

She calls herself a feminist. The right wing has been railing against feminists for years. This is a topic that leaves many conservative men feeling deeply conflicted. If we want them to stay at home in November, we need to sow these seeds of doubt.

We don't need to lie in order to win, they do.
According to that article, he isn't a stay at home dad and never really was. Maybe a "part time" at one point, but that's about it.

Now what would the Palin family look like if they were Democrats?
Her: Shrill, midwesterny sounding wacko librarian type who has reckless pregnancies and would rather selfishly devote time to her career rather than family, which is why the kid is knocked up.
Him: Total pussy. What man lets the wife take care of him? Or let's her become more famous than him. Bet he's whipped.
But self-reflection is not really their strong suit.

He took a few months leave of absence from the work he does in the oil fields, but he went back..and that was last year. There was a video running around with a speech(?) Sarah Palin gave at a Church where she mentioned a nanny.

I'm glad she keeps her husband in line, supporting the family working two jobs so that she can be governor. Stress that she is powerful., while he's just an anonymous working stiff making a living she is tooling around running for office, fund raising, traveling around the country for various events, etc.
How much does Gov. of Alaska pay, BTW? Anyone know off hand?
