I've been tricked...
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 06:49 PM by Wetzelbill
I can't believe I let it happen, I'm usually more astute.

This election isn't about Palin vs Obama. She's not his peer, and McCain isn't above either of them.

It's about how the GOP under Bush-Cheney drove us into a ditch these last several years and now we need Obama and the Democratic Party to clean up after all of these messes.

Obama wants to get us out of that ditch. McCain wants to drive us off a cliff.

It's about the highest unemployment rate in 5 years. The worst job creation and economic growth since The Great Depression. It's about health care. A living wage. Balancing the budget.

It's about getting out of unnecessary wars and not finding a way to start more of them. It's about leading the world again in areas like climate change and energy policy.

Obama at least has thoughtful viable solutions. McCain has worse than nothing because what he has is going to lead us to certain disaster.

This isn't about what's her name.

It's about our country's future.

And right now, 80 percent of the country knows we are going in the wrong direction.

Forget the distractions, the more distractions the better it is for John McCain. He can't get us out of the mess he helped get us into. Obama can.

This election may not be about issues, as Rick Davis alluded, but if it's about image and personality, well Obama has that too. His persona is authentic. Joe Biden's persona is authentic. These are good people who came from humble backgrounds and know what hard work is all about.

Obama has the personality, he has the intellect and knowledge, and he has a country that is hungering for a real leader to get us back on the right path.

McCain would be a disaster. That's a fact.

Obama and the rest of us need to make this election about that, instead of getting bogged down with distractions.

Is Palin an issue? Yeah, but not so much where this election has to be about her, and not George Bush, John McCain, the Republican Pary and all the wrong that they have done to our country and the world these last 8 years.

It will be won by emphasizing dementia in a 72 year old man and the "end times" nutjob he chose to run with him.

5. I TOTALLY agree.
I think Palin shouldn't even be a governor, but I don't give a shit if all three of her daughters and her granny is pregnant. I don't care if monkeys just flew out of her ass.

This election is about GETTING BACK ON TRACK AND MAKING THINGS BETTER.

6. Absolutely. And Palin bashing is only valuable if it shows that she will continue Bush/Cheney.
We must tie McCain (and by extension Palin) to Bush & Cheney and the failing economy. K&R!

and it sunk like a fucking rock .... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=6976663&mesg_id=6976663

People get focused on personality ... but it really doesnt matter WHO represents their party: The POLICIES are what have destroyed the country ..... Bush could have NEVER did what he did without the connivance of his party, and even a few despicable Democrats ....

Defeat CONSERVATISM .... not just McCain and Palin ....

And BTW: Liberals policies are NOT failed; they have been wildly successful .... so STOP SAYING THEY ARE FAILED <--- message to spineless Democrats who cannot defend their philosophy

18. you can beat down a personality
If you link it to failure. Watch how the GOP keeps trying to make McCain and Palin into mythic figures. They joke about Obama being "The One" but they are trying to out "One" "The One" right now. This maverick stuff is bullshit. And it can be smashed by showing the GOP policy failures and hammering that home constantly until McCain is linked with these failures.

We should have been doing this for 30 years ....

I cannot explain why Democrats have not POUNDED their philosophies day in and day out, and SLAMMED the fuck ups in the GOP, because they deserve it ....

16. That's what I've been saying
GOP=F-----

McCain has the same policies and philosophies as Bush, which means he IS Bush's 3rd term (or more accurately Reagan's 6th, but that isn't an angle with the general public).

21. AGREE
And one of the things I hear over and over from moderates and indies is :

McCain's choice shows he is reckless and irresponsible. Her acceptance shows she is irresponsible and puts her ambition above the country.

These ARE worthwhile points to make since so many moderates are discovering this on their own -- people who are hearing nothing but msm bs.

Then, there is the economy, which clearly neither of them has a good plan for and clearly they are both BAD for the economy. McCain because of Gramm and his votes with Bush and his self-professed lack of knowledge about it and Palin for her lack of experience, her scary flub re Fannie and Freddie (only reflecting the largest economic issue of the decade probably and something she certainly should have known about as gov of alaska, a state suffering many foreclosures), etc.

the war...etc.

My dad said to me today (he is a republican now) that it was pointless to discuss her polices because she isn't qualified for the job.

Zing.
