NEW YORK (AP) -- Republicans invoked the horrors of Sept. 11 on Monday to drive home their point that President Bush is a decisive leader in a dangerous world, unafraid to make tough decisions.

The strategy of using Sept. 11 at the convention, which is being held just a few miles from the trade center site, has led Democrats to accuse the Republicans of exploiting the tragedy. It was in the immediate aftermath of the attacks that the president scored his highest approval ratings.

Details:

The lives of Ney Yorkers mean nothing as they foist the bill on a city that has yet to recieve the help it needs to recover from the tragedy three years ago.

4. Bush Was AWOL on 9/11 Too!!!
I wish the hell the press would remember (ha!) that Smirk was an abject FAILURE as a leader on 9/11 and the days immediately subsequent. He literally could not have been any worse.

While Rudy was bravely trying to save his city, Smirk sat, stunned stupid, in a second-grade classroom. While Giuliani and Pataki got the rescue efforts underway, Bunnypants was hiding on AF One or secluded at a secret base somewhere in the midwest, shivering, no doubt, with fear and indecision.

For the next two days, while Giuliani was available for interviews and inspiration, Smirk and Snarl sat snug in their underground bunkers. Not a peep was heard from either of them until long AFTER Clinton got to ground zero. (Bill got there BEFORE Smirk, even though he was in Australia when 9/11 happened and all planes were subequently grounded. Now, THAT'S leadership!)

In fact, it was only AFTER the talking heads started questioning where Bush was, that he finally turned up at ground zero to give that stupid speech, hanging onto a fireman for courage. And the kneejerk media -- grateful that their darling had finally done something they could lavish praise on him for -- happily began touting him as the new Churchhill.

Hype aside; spin aside; the record shows that Bush failed miserably as a leader on 9/11, and in the days and weeks immediately afterward. In fact, except for Afghanistan (a no-brainer), Bush has screwed up every single aspect of everything that relates to 9/11 from that moment (if not before) to this.
