Won't Palin's hiding from the press set her up for higher expectations?
After all, if she is taking off so much time to learn about the issues I will be expecting her to have a first rate performance. And I do mean "performance".

1. There is no way they can impart the amount of knowledge she'd need to
effectively debate Biden. I just watched him on MTP and again, I was educated in the real goings on in Iraq. He's got a deep understanding and hands-on understanding of the issues that all the Cliffs Notes in the world won't be able to compete with.

11. I've been thinking Biden....
should try to make the overarching dynamic of the VP debate to be one of "teacher-student."

He shouldn't be lecturing her but treating her like she's a top student engaged a private discussion with him, her teacher. That way, it's not that "these matters are over your head, Missy", but simply she doesn't yet have the knowledge that the job requires--she will one day, but that day is a little ways off.

Of course, whoever from the Media is moderating will make sure that she gets all the "deference" she demands, and he/she'll probably interrupt Biden when he's making an in-depth point about something important in order to give Palin a chance to throw out some cliche line or play the "hockey mom who doesn't have all that East Coast edumacation, but knows in her heart what's true and what'll work."

3. No, the GOP with the help of the Corporate Media
will lower the expectations - just like they did for the moron George W. Bush - and then they will proclaim that she "wins" when she exceeds those expectations.

4. Her acceptance speech was obviously a performance.
In an editorial this morning in the Anchorage Daily News, the editor writes, as I've said here repeatedly over the past week, "One big surprise about Palin's term as governor: She has been thoroughly bipartisan. Her most reliable supporters on her big three accomplishments have been Democrats. The partisan side that Palin showed in her acceptance speech Thursday is something Alaskans haven't seen in her time as governor." The national Republicans have gone to great pains to downplay her strengths as governor and maximize her weaknesses -- i.e., her social and religious fundamentalism. It's horribly cynical and will probably come back to bite her in the ass when she returns to Alaska.

For those of you who are still trying to learn more about Sarah, this morning's Daily News is full of stuff. http://www.adn.com/

Opinions, the political blogs and letters are pretty interestng, especially the comments.

5. Yes and she'll meet those expectations.
She'll read off a card and the press will fall to their knees fawning over her. We're fucked.

9. Nah. She'll still expect to play by "girls' rules", and they'll cry "sexism" if people don't.
