The Bush presidency was a fabrication wherein very powerful people gained access to the nation’s highest office by inserting a dim but appealing symbol. They kept the true power of the presidency through the unconstitutionally powerful Dick Cheney and we paid dearly for our gullibility. This time it’s a similar game with an interesting twist and in a different package.
John McCain is all too aware of his own mortality. He is two years older than his father was at his death and probably realizes that his POW years did not enhance his longevity. John McCain would like to be elected president, but he doesn’t have any delusions about even serving through his first term. He looks to be already lying in state standing on his feet.
Sarah Palin covers many Republican bases (Guns, God, Oil and environmental predation) but her real value to the people who brought us George. W. Bush is that she understands her role in this treachery. She has followed orders and dutifully returned to the tundra to cram for the few times she will be tested on the campaign trail. A Joe Lieberman or a Tom Ridge would not have been quite so compliant. She, like McCain, sorely lacks the scholarship of either of the Democratic candidates, but she is not dumb enough to believe that leading the free world is her real destiny.
It is almost reassuring to realize that she would never be in a position to further her nutsy extremist agenda. Upon John McCain’s likely passing in office she would become the next George Bush, a decider who is told exactly what to decide.
