McCain/Palin/GOP Don't Concern Me - Big Media Does - No Coverage of Issues Or Positions
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 01:25 PM by Median Democrat
I have said this since the primaries. The biggest problem we will face is Big Media. The GOP itself is pretty transparent. Ricky Davis said issues are not important, and they will focus on personalities. Then, McCain gave a speech that simply did not discuss the issues. Objectively, using a word search, this is what McCain's speech did not mention:

George Bush - Zero...Zero? McCain/Palin want to change things, yet there is not a single mention of George Bush? Shoot, then what exactly is being chamged? Oh well, lets continue.

Middle class - Zero.

Environment - Zero.

Global Warming - Zero.

Social security - Zero.

Deficit or debt - Zero.

Infrastructure - Zero.

Elderly - Zero.

Poor or poverty - One mention. His wife cares for people in poverty.

Health care - Three references, but no description of what it is, rather its just better than Obama's.

Mortgage - Two mentions, but no proposal, just a reference that he will fight corruption, since he knows Americans are struggling with mortgage payments. Huh?

College - One reference, but to community college?

Veterans - Zero...What? McCain is a former POW, and not a single shout to veterans, let alone veteran benefits?

Education - Four references made, but in reference to vouchers.

Abortion - Zero. Palin is the VP and no mention of abortion?

YET, despite the lack of discussion of any relevant issues besides the war and 9/11, the Media did not say squat. Perhaps under the cover of a liberal media charge, Big Media celebrated McCain's "clean break" with Bush even though McCain did not say one single thing that he would do differently than Bush. Not one! Yet, even though a simple word search could have revealed this, Big Media did not point this out.

Bottom line: Big Media lies. They focus on Palin's family troubles to make her look like a victim, but they ignore her extreme views, which should disqualify her as a mainstream candidate. Big Media also does a tremendous disservice by not noting that the Republicans say nothing about what they will do for the American people beside push for lower taxes.

Big Media gave Obama the business for lack of specificity, yet Obama's speech looks like the Code of Federal Regulations compared to McCain's speech, which just focused on his bio, and foreign wars. If Big Media was doing its job, it would point out and highlight the issues that are relevant to voters, rather than simply playing and replaying personal bios of the Republican candidates.
