Thumbs Down

09.04.08 -- 11:55AM By Josh Marshall

I'm certainly not saying this will be the across the board response. And self-identified Republicans loved Palin's speech. But a focus group of Michigan independents did not like it.

Late Update: Focus groups of female undecideds in Nevada didn't seem to like it either.

The media can spin this away they want to, but Palin's speech was mean-spirited and offensive.

3. I fall into the "underwhelmed" category...tried to be objective, hearing that she was good speaker,
etc. and she just didn't impress me at all. Of course the fact that basically all she did was trot out the old "tax and spend" arguments along with implications that Dems aren't patriotic, don't want "victory" in Iraq and Afghanistan, etc., well, I went from being unimpressed to just plain pissed off.

2. Oh that is too rich.
I watched with subtitles (in bed didn't want to wake up the little one) and to me it seemed like talk radio crap. I read where she won the Mayoral campaign by making abortion and guns an issue-what does that have to do with the city streets and new firetrucks??? I don't know but it worked and with these people that is all that matters.

I didn't think it was very good just by watching it and reading the text.
