Mika's political evolution= Stolkholm syndrom
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 10:50 AM by Roxy66
I used to look forward to watching Mika take on Joe and his bullying every morning....but she has been so beaten down, liken to an abused wife that she just sits there, nods, gives that condescending look to the side and occasionaly throws out a silly comment. It's really sad to see. It's going to be tough when every morning the tone is going to be set with Republican talking points.

1. I disagree. It's the 7 figure salary that keeps her quiet (other than nonstop ooh-ing and ah-ing).

2. She's a really screwed up person with major father issues.
But dysfunctional and stupid - That seems to be the criteria in the media hiring process.

3. Geez, and she has went from a professional woman
to a blithering idiot. I'm not just talking about her views. She used to handle herself as a professional, now she is a giggling idiot that reminds me of the cheerleaders in high school. And the body language with Joe, half of the time she is laying all over him. :puke:

:WTF: happened to her? Doesn't she have any gal pals to set her straight? It's unwatchable telivision on many different levels.

Keeping him aroused between commercial breaks.

8. She looks to him for approval, and seems to swoon over him...
After watching her from the beginning and actually seeing someone with principle and backbone....she seems to have given in to his abuse. I watched it happening right in front of my eyes and this is the result.

11. It's sick
I've seen the same (d)evolution. Someone who cares about her needs to take her aside and talk to her.

4. her schtick is getting old
She barely gets to complete a full sentence so she doesn't even try. All you hear from her are brief, mindless chirrups, almost like little punctuation marks, whenever Joe says something. It's annoying. Joe only lets her speak if she has something grovelling to say about the repukes or negative about Obama.

It's really unwatchable.

9. Watch Her for about 10 mins with the sound turned off

She blinks her eyes a lot, bobbles her head nervously and generally displays some
nervous tendencies she didn't have earlier.

She said today that she could really relate to Falin about doing a great job
raising her family and balancing her career and was serious.

Falin's family is a disaster if you ask me.

10. I don't think you can blame Joe.
Mika is just showing her true colors. A friend of mine knew her at CBS and said she was an airhead there. She is a pro-life republican and has been for years. Her husband was a supporter of Pat Buchanan in the 90s. The whole shtick of her being a liberal counterpoint to Joe was just that. Her role was to play Alan Colmes to his Hannity.

17. I favor the pecking order argument in the article
I noticed a major change in Mika's role in the show after the NY Times did a piece on Joe S./"Morning Joe."

Up till that article Mika seemed to be an integral part of discussions where she interviewed guests and provided a sense of balance to the show.

After that article appeared she shifted to the "silent sidekick" who makes small comments but never gets to express a complete opinion or control the discussion.

It killed the dynamic of the show and now the show has degenerated into a daily display of Joe's overfed ego partnered with sycophantic guests and co-hosts.

14. You know what happens to these people...
Mika, Tim Russert, Chris Matthews...

They get bought off. Basically, they sign on and get a big salary and start to buy stuff, take out big mortgages, that kind of thing. Once they get used to that lifestyle they will do anything and say anything to keep it. They are now part of the big leagues rubbing elbows at the fancy cocktail parties of the people they are charged to report upon. The message is, go along and you get along. Start speaking too much truth and you get sidelined only to be very quickly replaced by the next pretty or jowly face who's all to willing to take your place at the teat. They know this and "fall in line".
