Me too.

But I'd also crawl across broken glass to vote FOR Barack Obama.

That said, the outcome all comes down to one thing and one thing only.

TURNOUT

Please take a pledge in this thread to do one or more of the following:

- work/call/canvass 5 hours for Obama/Biden 08
- register 5 voters
- donate 25 dollars
- drive another voter to the polls on election day

Voter Registration.
Ground game.
Turnout.
GOTV.

"The Neighborhood Volunteer program empowers volunteers to help Democrats like never before. Now, you can take charge of your own neighborhood to change the country. We'll win elections because you are involved and talking to your neighbors."
-Gov. Howard Dean
Get started in your neighborhood!

Research alone shows that talking with voters face-to-face is more persuasive than TV advertising, direct mail or phone calls. For our Democratic candidates to win, we need to go to our neighbors, knock on their doors and ask for their vote. To accomplish this, we are launching an effort in communities across the country called the Neighborhood Volunteer program. We are recruiting activists like you who commit to talk to 25 neighbors at least three times between now and Election Day. By Labor Day, we need 500,000 activists like you to pledge to be a Neighborhood Volunteer.

“The earth is what we all have in common.” .... Wendell Barry ..... http://www.democrats.org/a/2008/05/neighborhood_vo.php

10. Good post
I came out of a local Dem meeting recently, and told my S.O.: "I think I wandered into the wrong group - there were YOUNG people in there who were ORGANIZED and seemed to know what they were doing!" and that was pre-Obabama. They presented the research about face-to-face contact vs. phone banking, they helped us with maps and strategies.

Grassroots, baby!

2. Yes, but I'd endure worse to vote FOR Obama.
That's how bad I know they will be and how optimistic I am that Barack might actually do some of things he's talking about.

3. I'll meet that pledge
I've done at least some volunteer work for the last 3 elections and I have been meaning to get out there for Obama. I will do at least five hours. I'll donate more if I can in the Bush economy, I mean during this time of "prosperity," as I struggle to make ends meet as an evening student who is soon to be working two jobs.
