Geraldine Ferraro and PUMAs will monitor media coverage of Palin for sexism.
Geraldine is stuck on this sexism thing. She did it again today. She was on Good Morning America, and she gave free airtime to the Pumas, advanced their so-called cause...and said they would be looking out for their buddy Sarah Palin.

I do hate to link to Newsbusters, but in this case they have the partial transcript from the appearance.

Ferraro on ABC: 'We’ll Be Looking' to Monitor Sexist Palin Coverage

The "we" includes the Pumas.

FERRARO: You know that, that, was a complaint that we heard from a lot of women. But to be quite frank, it wasn't Hillary who was complaining. It was us. It was, it was me and several others. In fact if you take a look at the Hillary Clinton voters, there are some people there who are called PUMA....Those are the women who turned around and said that the sexism in the press was so bad during the primaries and they're furious at the DNC, the Democratic National Committee, Howard Dean, and Barack Obama for not speaking up against this. And they say there's this double standard. If racist -- if the media had approached Barack Obama in a racist way, everybody would have been screaming and rightly so. With Hillary, not so. And one of the things I mentioned earler when I was on, on GMA, was I said, you know, there was a guy sitting there with a sign saying "iron my shirts." Why didn't the media report that? Does that not indicate that there is sexism in this country?

Had somebody been there with a sign for Barack Obama that said shine my shoes, would there not have been a reporting of that? No double standard. No double standard. And there are those PUMA people are those people who say "we're not going to vote for Barack Obama. We're going to vote for John McCain. Or we're going to write in Hillary, or what we're going to do is we're not going to do anything on the top line." Those, some of those people, maybe John McCain will pick up. But, you know, it is, it is a very bad place to be. And I have to tell you, even Governor Palin thinks that's whining. A lot of those PUMA people and I will be watching very carefully to make sure that you treat her just like anybody else. Go to her, her qualifications, go to her experience. Go to whatever you want to. But make sure it's done on a basis where she's treated like a guy by the media. No sexism. Because we'll be looking.

The terms "we" and "us" used quite often there.

Here is the video with Robin Roberts on ANC today.

ABC video

She did the same thing on Fox News last week. She blamed Obama and Dean for the media coverage of Hillary Clinton.

Almost endorsing McCain

There are a lot of women who are disaffected by how Hillary was treated by the media, by how she was treated by the Obama campaign, by how she was treated by the Democratic National Committee — Democratic party chairman Howard Dean not speaking up when sexism raised its ugly head in the media. They’ll be looking to see what happens now.

The Telegraph UK recently had a most unflattering article about her. If she had not been attacking Dean and Obama publicly the day before, I would have felt sorry for her.

Geraldine Ferraro: 'There are a lot of women who are disaffected by how Hillary was treated' Photo: GETTY IMAGES

From the Telegraph: Ferraro: A salutary tale for Republicans

The last female vice-presidential candidate was a disastrous campaigner and the Democratic ticket was defeated in a landslide by Ronald Reagan.

A disgruntled supporter of Senator Hillary Clinton during the Democratic primary, Mrs Ferraro wrote on Friday: 'Without Hillary being the nominee it's really quite equally as important. There are a lot of women who are disaffected by how Hillary was treated by the media, by how she was treated by the Obama campaign … not speaking up when sexism raised its ugly head in the media."

However amid the enthusiasm among Republicans about the boldness shown by Senator John McCain in choosing Mrs Palin as his running mate, Mrs Ferraro provides a salutary tale.

Her excitable comments, submitted on a Fox News blog, and her claims during the primary that Senator Barack Obama's popularity was down to his skin colour, showed the ungainliness that marked her campaign 24 years ago.

The media will use her and use her and use her. It will hurt the Democrats, but I guess she will feel flattered.

I was surprised she all but claimed Puma kinship today.

8. Would Ferraro rather endorse someone completely the opposite of Hillary's views?
Is Ferraro just consumed with the fact that Palin has a vagina?

Does she understand what's at stake with women's rights?

Does she think women are too weak to be able to handle scrutiny for the possibility of becoming President of the United States?

Does Ferraro actually agree with Palin's views?

I'm a feminist through and through, but for her and her republican girly friends to be taking up the cause for Palin, the most ANTI-WOMEN'S RIGHTS CANDIDATE EVER, just makes me ill.

What is wrong with GF? I was seriously defending her recently, but I think she and her little PUMA Friends need to spend more time fighting for women's rights, not carrying the torch for the ANTI-HILLARY!!!

Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 11:35 PM by Zambero
In subsequent Senate races, New York Democrats subsequently passed her over and she has never gotten over it. Now she can feel "empowered" by criticizing Obama, thereby hurting the party that spurned her. Both Clinton and Obama waged primary aggressive campaigns against each other. At the end of the day, MOST Democrats realized that it was time to put differences aside and unite for the good of the country. Most, except for "Independent Democrat" Joe Lieberman and, it appears, a very bitter Geraldine Ferraro.

Like her participating in a beauty pageant sexism (real women picket those, they do not put on a swimsuit and participate in them)? Like the way she put down every single woman who ever organized a women's center or women's collective or rape crisis center in the country tonight by saying that those women were not responsible for anything, only the government elected executives have responsibilities?

Sarah Palin has spewed so much sexist crap that it is a wonder her own uterus does not rise up in revolt and devour her from within.
