Stop fretting about Palin tonight; the more the MSM drools over her, the worse it is for McCain
Why? Because he's an unattractive, politically confused old man who can't give a speech. And he's the candidate.

The rule of thumb is to hit the highest note at the end of the convention with the top of the ticket, not the night before with the apprentice. The focus on Palin, who is a creature of the base with no value for independents anyway, is hurting McCain right now:

Ever since John McCain announced his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate four days ago, Republicans (along with quite a few Democrats) have talked about little else. But convincing voters that Palin will make a good vice president is not the most important task at hand at this nominating convention.

Republicans have to convince voters that John McCain would make a good president or that Barack Obama would make a bad one. Or both...

So thank you, everyone, for playing along and getting all steamed up about tonight. That fits the MSM narrative like a glove, which is fortunate for us and too bad for Gramps since this convention is supposed to be about selling McCain, not reassuring voters about his unqualified sidekick.
