Look at the most recent polls....

Got these from www.electoral-vote.com:

ARG 49% 43% Obama +6%
CBS 48% 40% Obama +8%
Gallup 50% 43% Obama +7%

Gallup tracking 50% 42% Obama +8%
Hotline 48% 39% Obama +9%
Rasmussen tracking 48% 43% Obama +5%

============

Obama got a good bounce from the convention and aftermath of Palin selection. I bet McCain doesn't get much of a bounce after the Rep. convention!

2. He gained some fundies, which were holding out,
but lost some moderates. A net negative, I predict.

11. Funny thing was, he had those fundies anyway
So definitely a net negative.

13. I think that he had most of them, some were "threatening" to stay home.
Of course they are so terrified of Obama, they wouldn't have.

14. Abnd if polled they would say "McCain"
Because they nderstand expectations and if Obama is blowing away McCain i the polls, the undecideds will jump to him.

So the effect was a net negative as the pick really did not gain him anything and it may have lost a few moderates while pusihing undecideds into the Obama column.

Hence, Obama breaks the 50 mark in the two daily tracking polls.

22. And so he solidified the hardrightnutcasefundies, but probably
lost two or three times as many not-quite-insane Republicans and conservative moderates.

7. McGimmick will get a bounce...
...I suspect he be within a point or two of Obama come Saturday. Whether it lasts is a different matter. George the 1st quickly saw his minor bounce fade into irrelevance in '92.

21. old anchor? hardly. she had a shortlived career as a sportscaster on
a dinky station. She has never been in the national spotlight before and now she's in it under terrible circumstances. Yeah, she'll get a rock star reception tonight from the fundy wingnuts and likely glowing reviews, but I doubt she does a good job.

15. Early Today just led with a piece on Abramov, Troopergate and Porkgate
I seriously think whatever baby bounce they might get out of the convention will be eaten up by all of that.
When Early Today is covering it, it's mainstream.

16. BULLSHIT!
If those polls were correct they would be showing 60/40 or better in favor of Obama.
The criminals need to keep it close in order to steal it again.

23. You'd better believe it.
How can people go around all optimistic and everything while they keep getting disappointed all the time.

Isn't it better to be pessimistic and then be pleasantly surprised? :P

18. McCain will get some bounce and this will narrow by Friday.
That is just the way it is with these conventions and it always happens. Let's prepare ourselves now for the McSame/Failin ticket to climb by weeks end.

27. There'll be a bounce, perhaps closer then some are predicting.
But given what those two are at right now, I really do doubt that, say, McCain could actually overtake Obama.

24. the RNC convention--fun to watch.
It's the very definition of "going through the motions". There are empty seats, bored looking people, indifferent pundits.

It's the swan song for a party which has been self-destructing for many years.

I find it hard to imagine any bounce coming out of this. They're depressing! Even the Palin-palooza tonight won't be able to wake anyone up.
