New Story Breaking - Track Palin School Bus Vandalism in 2005?
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 09:36 PM by Arm Chair Politician
I thought I'd pass this along before it hits the media.

I know, another story about Palin's family but this one may actually lead into current problems with Palin's abuse of power investigation. For those not aware, its an old story from 2005 concerning school bus vandalism in Wasilla, Alaska with a new twist previously unreported.

It was reported today in Anchorage on progressive talk 1080 KUDO - and quoted from a non-disclosed judicial source, that Track Palin was the unidentified minor who was involved with the vandalism at the time. The minor was reported to be 16 years old. Here is the news article I found relating to this back in 2005. The judicial source's reason for disclosing the data was that it would be released 'sooner or later'.

Even more interesting is the fact that the Alaska State Troopers did the investigation and report on the incident. To add fuel to the fire, Trooper Wooten (the trooper Palin has tried to get removed from the Alaska State Troopers) was assigned to that post at that time and may have worked on the case. I'm trying to secure a copy of the police report.

Rumors are circulating (and have been in the past) about Track being forced to accept military service or jail time. It is unclear if this was from his mother and father, or from another source.

While its unfortunate this is another story about Palin's children its just more fuel to the fire surrounding Palin. If I'm correct Trooper Wooten's divorce paperwork was filed with the Alaska court system in April of 2005. It will be interesting to see if Palin was involved with this incident and/or if Wooten or Palin used their power to get Palin's son out of trouble.

I'll post more as details as I learn more that isn't reported in the media. Alaska is learning many things we never knew about our governor. Needless to say that Alaska talk radio is raking her over the coals and worried their words will be used against the republican's on a national level. For some interesting listening and to learn what the far right of Alaska thinks of Palin, check out the pod cast for Dan Fagan today at 750 KFQD here.

3. I've seen the jail vs military info elsewhere..nothing specific yet
The only reference I've seen from the locals about him signing up is that his high school GPA was not even 2.0 so when he tried to get into Univ of Alaska to play for their ice hockey team, he couldn't get in.
The Palin father was feeling a little dismal about the kid's future (ya think??) so he made him sign up and ship out.

The info came from a poster named "Sue Williams", the same lady who initially said that both Palin and Bristol was pregnant at the same time...long before the news hit the rest of the 'net.
Interestingly, since she shared all she knew, she has not posted since.

Below is the blog's link.
Best blog ever for the local spin/information, locals like to chime in under the comment section and often provide really good links, also.

54. Objectively, if it was just Sarah Jones, anyone would say she's a bad mother
Everyone is saying she's a great mother and it's off limits, but realistically, in my neighborhood if anyone had as many screwups among the kids as hers, and if the mother was as soap opera-ish as she is, we'd gossip about how it was her poor skils that were screwing up the kids.

1) Alcohol - Track and Bristol seem to have a problem
2) Crime - Track has his vandalism. She has her "misdemeanor". Her car wash closed down for violating regulations. First dude has his DUI. She also has her current investigations. Kids learn that anything goes.
3) Family harmony - she went on the attack against her mother-in-law's candidacy and they were hardly talking
4) Grades - Track is a dropout, Levi seems to be a dropout (not her son, but the chosen heir)
5) Sex - no birth control, preaches abstinence, but she had her own child conceived out of wedlock and Bristol just followed the family tradition; then opposes choice, vetoes funding for teen mothers
6) Health - speaking, flying and driving all around the country while little Trig was a-birthing.
7) Power - tried to force Bristol into an early wedding to time pregnancy announcement to benefit the campaign, but Bristol refused and they had a standoff.

I'm sure there's a lot more.

38. And that's a 4 year average - not like the kid had one bad semester.
Where were his loving parents all those years? You can work full time and still establish limits on TV and recreational activities and talk regularly with EACH of the teachers in every class in which your kid is struggling. Was there not one responsible ADULT in the Palin household? And how hard could the classes have been at a high school in such a tiny community? I doubt he was taking any AP courses.

Son of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin lived in Portage, Mich., in 2006
by Kelle Barr | Special to the Gazette

PORTAGE, MI -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who Sen. John McCain has chosen as his vice presidential running mate, has Portage ties.

Her son, Track, lived with the Holmes family and attended Portage Central High School for several months of his senior year in 2006. ...

"He needed a host family and we were happy to do it," Holmes said. "Sarah was running for governor when Track came to us in September of 2006, and she got elected that November."

9. Oh, he also seems to have gotten the Army's "quick-ship" bonus
Note he signed up before the Sept 30 2007 deadline for the bonus:

http://www.countermilitary.org/Articles/MilitaryRecruiting/PersonnelCrunch/ArmysweetensAlaska.html

Helping to catch their attention this year is news about a $20,000
"quick-ship" signing bonus that new recruits might receive if they
complete their processing and agree to depart for active duty prior
to Sept. 30 -- the deadline for the Army to reach its annual recruitment goal.

Considering the bonus is greater than an entire year's pay for the
average first-year soldier, it's no wonder. But that's not the only
monetary incentive at the booth.

Some of them were staying in the same hotel as Johnson and Dunn
Monday night on the eve of "enlistment day" processing the next
morning. Others had already joined up and were preparing to fly off
to basic training.

Among the latter was Track Palin, the 18-year-old son of Alaska Gov.
Sarah Palin and honorary "First Son," a potential "quick-ship" bonus
winner himself, heading off to Fort Benning, Ga.

And he went off to another state when?? In 2006??

http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Rec/rec.sport.pro-wrestling/2005-12/msg01161.html

WASILLA - Four days after teens sabotaged Mat-Su school buses and forced
local schools to close for a day, a Wasilla mother said she is still shocked her son participated in the vandalism.

Coon and three other teens are suspected of disabling nearly half the First Student bus fleet by pulling valve stems from tires on 44 buses, which caused the tires to deflate. They also allegedly unplugged 110 buses from their engine-block heaters so the buses were unable to start in the below-zero weather.

Troopers said Friday that charges have not yet been filed, but on Wednesday they reported that the students - two from Burchell and two from Wasilla High School - were inspired by a popular MTV show, "High School Stories." The program seeks out high school pranks and then re-enacts those pranks for television broadcast

All four students are on interim suspension and face possible expulsion by the school board.

School bus service resumes after vandalism

ANCHORAGE - Regular school bus service for Chugiak and Eagle River students resumed Wednesday after mechanics repaired brake lines on 50 school buses that were vandalized sometime before Monday morning.

The buses belong to First Student, the company that provides the Anchorage School District with about two-thirds of its buses and drivers and exclusively transports Eagle River students.

District officials said Tuesday that the estimated cost of repairs and lost revenue for First Student was $36,000.

The vandalism left about 2,700 students without their normal transportation to school. More than 560 students were absent from Eagle River and Chugiak schools on Monday, which school officials said is more than normal. Bus service resumed Tuesday on some, but not all, routes.

21. from that blog link:
snip:

Palin’s Future Son-in-Law Heads to GOP Convention?

Yes, that first headline is right, apparently. It took me a while to get my palms off my face so I could check it out, but it’s true. I know we’re not supposed to interfere with the personal lives of candidates’ children. I know that many people, including myself, feel sorry for Bristol and the fact that she was hurled out in front of the nation with nothing to cover her clandestine expanding midsection except a baby and a giant white blanket. I even heard Barack Obama ask us all to drop it. But, inviting the boyfriend to come to the convention in the middle of all this? Who has brought this, and him, right into the most glaring of bright lights, in front of a huge international audience? Not Barack Obama, or the Democrats, or the evil left-wing bloggers. This is a lesson in how to create a distracting, embarrassing spectacle with one simple plane ticket. The mind reels….I think. It’s been reeling since Friday, so it’s hard to tell any more.

And for those of you who have wondered what you’ll do with yourselves when the Palin fiasco is over (and there are more and more media outlets speculating that it will be long before November), take heart. Read that second headline up at the top of the page. Ted Stevens will be the methedone for your Palin addiction. Trust me.

And I do not consider myself dysfunctional or "trailer trash." Why do people look down their noses at we mobile home park dwellers? At least, my home is paid in full and I have no mortgage payments. My car is paid in full also. And I earn a fairly decent salary. I am doing better than others who are strapped with giant mortgages and losing their homes.

Good for you to think for yourself and do the smart economic thing. I am sure there are many people who now wish they had done the same thing. The use of trailer trash is just an old habit. It should soon be re-examined and believe me; I have known many intelligent, productive people who chose to live in a mobile home because it was the practical choice.

Something like that.

Palin's children are off limits and not part of the campaign.

more the Rethugs seem to support her.

62. It is intended to be a change od discourse from TORTURE, Bush crimes, ... you know the list.
This is a Rovian ploy to change the discourse from issues and reason to raw emotion. They win if the emotion shift succeeds!

But it's pure and simple.

What part of THIS WOMAN MUST BE STOPPED AT ANY COST don't YOU understand?

If we have to publicly humiliate her family to save the country, so be it. It IS that important...you DO understand that, right?

My god...is there a "GD-Presidential for the Self Righteous" area somewhere? No? Well, maybe there should be!

41. Well the service for jail time thing is passe.....
http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/jo inprison.htm

The Army addresses this issue in the Army Recruiting Regulation, Army Regulation 601-210, paragraph 4-8b: "Applicant who, as a condition for any civil conviction or adverse disposition or any other reason through a civil or criminal court, is ordered or subjected to a sentence that implies or imposes enlistment into the Armed Forces of the United States is not eligible for enlistment.."

The Air Force Recruiting Regulation, AETCI 36-2002, table 1-1, lines 7 and 8, makes an applicant ineligible for enlistment if they are "released from restraint, or civil suit, or charges on the condition of entering military service, if the restraint, civil suit, or criminal charges would be reinstated if the applicant does not enter military service."

The Marine Corps Recruiting Regulation, MCO P1100.72B, Chapter 3, Section 2, Part H, Paragraph 12 states: "Applicants may not enlist as an alternative to criminal prosecution, indictment, incarceration, parole, probation, or other punitive sentence. They are ineligible for enlistment until the original assigned sentence would have been completed."

63. A friend was telling me that she can't much of a parent at all.
Said the kids are being raised by grandparents, not this "mother". The kids are in Wasilla, she is in Juneau and Anchorage. Is the daddy raising them, or is he always on the North Slope?

I wonder if the pregnant daughter was rebelling because the oldest son was getting all of the negative attention. Maybe she wanted to be sent to Michigan, too.

I'd like to see her interviewed about where the family is all living. I'd like for someone to catch her in a lie.

68. Do you happen to have any links for that?
I'm just asking because I have been in a discussion on another board about these issues... particularly a report I heard that during the campaign for governor, Palin was asked what her plans for childcare were. She stated that her dh was going to quit her job and stay home with the kids... without even discussing the matter with him, yipes. Also that the kids were "farmed out" to various family and friends. I'm kind of embarrassed to be looking into all of this gossip-y type stuff... not usually my style, but like I said, I'm in a discussion with some folks who are under the delusion that she is running her home and family just peachy keen. I'd love to have some links to substantiate what I'm trying to say!

TIA

someone figured out the details.

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe parents with really young kids shouldn't be running. I just don't understand why she would put this job ahead of her special needs baby.

88. If this turns out to be true it will be devastating for her up here
In 2005 when these kids did this it was a huge story up here in Anchorage. They had to cancel school and thousands of kids were involved. If this had come out back then she would never had been elected governor in 2006. If state trooper Wooten worked on a case involving his own nephew's vandalism it could explain some missing pieces in the Troopergate investigation.
