Focus Group - 2 to 1 against McCain/Palin

Another week, another Frank Luntz/AARP focus group of undecided voters--this one in Minneapolis and with some bad news for John McCain: they don't like the choice of Sarah Palin for vice president. Only one person said Palin made him more likely to vote for McCain; about half the 25-member group raised their hands when asked if Palin made them less likely to vote for McCain. They had a negative impression of Palin by a 2-1 margin...a fact that was reinforced when they were given hand-dials and asked to react to Palin's speech at her first appearance with McCain on Friday---the dials remained totally neutral as Palin went through her heart-warming(?) biography, and only blipped upwards when she said she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere--which wasn't quite the truth, as we now know.

1. Problem
Luntz is a republican and he is a huge fraud. He used the same participants in multiple focus groups.

Don't trust the results.

2. The results will be used in attack ads
If they don't like McCain the reason why will be used to define Obama.

I shit you not on that. When they start mobilizing Luntz that's when the Republicans start funding their 527s and it gets REALLY NASTY.

3. Interesting.
Can you give an example of:

If they don't like McCain the reason why will be used to define Obama.

How would they do that? TIA! :hi:

6. This is how the whole "flip flopper" thing
started with Kerry. He did a focus group and a lot of people said they found Bush incosistent with his policies. He says one thing and it means another. The Republicans call a bill something when it means something else.

etc

The Bush "nation building" thing was the one that started the flip flopper thing. Luntz found that voters don't like it when politicians say one thing and then do another.

7. Thanks!
How do you think they would turn a neutral for Palin in the focus group into a negative for Obama/Biden?

Apparently the focus group was nonplussed with Palin's speech, except the bridge lie (that they didn't know is a lie). How would he turn that into a weapon against us?

Just trying to anticipate the next move.

4. Thanx so much....
I just keep reading how Palin is this brilliant tactical pick.
Is it that we are the insane ones?
Are we asleep in the Matrix and the psychotic GOP majority is the group that gets it?

Help me please.....
Are we losing our minds?
I had great respect for McCain until this weekend. It's just
Where do we turn when this sort of judgment is acceptable?

This is beyond insane.....
I think I need a blue pill...
