To HELL With False "Decency"
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 01:32 PM by demwing
Do we have real decency left? Hell yes we do, and though I don't advocate chasing down every Internet rumor in the hopes that it will bite the collective Republican ass, I do believe we have the right, and more importantly, the responsibility, to give as hard as we get - and harder, fight as hard as they fight - and harder, sling as wide as they sling - and wider, take shit from no one, and absolutely be the baddest dog in the fight.

But some ask if in doing so, don't we lose our "decency?"

Is it decent to allow an illegal war to continue unchecked?
Is it decent to overturn a woman's right to make her own reproductive choices?
Is it decent to ignore the education of our children in efforts to dumb-down the population?
Is it decent to send our best jobs overseas?
Is it decent to allow the middle class-the backbone of American economic power-to slowly die from economic neglect or abuse?
Is it decent to coddle corporate interests at the expense of our personal liberties and individual rights?
Is it decent to reward the party that sold out America, by giving them another 4 years to finish the horrors that they've begun?

Not just NO, but HELL NO.

I am not offended by those who say we should hit the Republicans on every issue, and hit below the belt if we have to. Do you want to know what DOES offend me?

TWO WORDS: President McCain.

4. Well put, if we don't hit hard, we lose again- America IS that stupid
It seems that the negative message resonates better with the undecided types (the IQ-challenged). Obama and Biden may not be able to go to certain dark places, but WE can. And why the hell not? The stakes are too high to just let the Repugs and the MSM frame all debate yet again. In order to get the Democratic agenda in place, we must first get our President elected, and obtain a strong majority of Congress.

7. Exactly! We are the News Media Alternative
And we can do the dirty work that our candidate cannot.

5. EXACTAMUNDO.
That poor kid is going to catch hell from her so-called friends, not from us.

6. Does that include lying, cheating, smearing underage pregnant teens
and propagating baseless rumors and innuendo, promoting sexist attacks?

It's their bread and butter. Nobody here is knocking the kid except the decency squad, ahem.

10. The teen is pregnant.
Stating that she is pregnant, thus, can not possibly be "smearing."

20. And judging the family and McCain
for the way they've handled the issue, message, and vetting process is yet another.

22. Right. Sorry that wasn't clear
In my opinion, to make this about the daughter is foolish. She's not a candidate.

This is about Mom, a bit about Dad (since he seems to impose himself on policy decisions) and mostly about McVett-me-not

24. No one is judging the teen
That a woman who could very possibly become the next V.P and even possible POTUS, who is a christian fundamentalist who believes in Abstinence only (not just for her own daughter) but for everyone's daughters and who is opposed to abortion even in cases of rape, should unwittingly find herself in the spotlight of those very issues. Then declare herself to be the answer to all those disgruntled women supporters who couldn't break the hardest glass ceiling, is pure irony.

9. The problem is when TMZ type rumors overshadow real developments.
The timing of this announcement, coming as it has right at the same time that the wires started picking up the story of her Bridge to Nowhere lie, is not accidental.

Her teen daughter being pregnant simply does not matter at all. We'd do well to think before reacting to their transparently theatrical moves in the future.

12. No offense to you, but SCREW that!
Do we have to follow the MSM? We have the bloggers and the Net. We can create our OWN media coverage.

Why do we "get" using the Internet as a fund-raising revolution, but forget that it is--first--an information and media revolution?

Isn't that precisely what Obama and Dean have been begging us to do? Take this into our own hands?

13. Uh, that's my point... no point building buzz about something their campaign announced
in order to distract people from what the buzz should really be about.

Unless one believes that people will be more turned off by her daughter's condition than her telling a huge freaking lie in her first speech to the nation, then it's pretty much a no-brainer that the TMZ crap is a distraction and a complete waste of time.

I misread your comment, and it changes my response.

To hell with the rules of engagement, this is a dog-fight with the future of the country, and the world, at stake. Decency is a bigger fish this year. We cannot be myopic in our focus, we've got to multi-task in our messages. Hit from EVERY direction.

18. It does matter. Remember Mark Foley back in '06?
The MSM likes sex stories and so do their audience. A revelation of hyprocrisy in personal matters always has a much bigger impact than all the other type of scandals (financial, military etc) put together.

15. I'm so sick and tired of Dems
backing down to "Oh, that isn't nice. Oh, that will upset someone."

Fuck it. We bring nukes to this knife fight or our country will die.

You want indecency? Upsetting? Not nice? Visit a VA hospital.

Thousands of our fellow country men and women have died and many thousands more wounded for life in an illegal war started with lies and continued for profit. Tell their families about indecent.

23. I say to hell with decency for the following reasons:
1. "Obama is a Muslim."
2. "Obama is a terrorist."
3. "Obama's wife is a radical anti-American nutjob."
4. "Obama's pastor is proof that the candidate himself is a black nationalist and a racist."

I mean really. Do you people realize what we're dealing with? They have thrown everything including the kitchen sink at Obama, literally out of nowhere with no evidence. Fuck these people. They deserve all the muckraking that we throw at them.
